BLURB:
For ten years they’ve done things Trey’s way. Now Lucien wants more. He wants to be with his lover full-time. Is Trey ready? Will he ever be?
Ten years after they first met and fell in love, Lucien and Trey are still together—after a fashion. Terrified that he’s going to become entirely dependent on Lucien, Trey calls his lover to come spend four to five days with him whenever he finishes a novel. Lucien wants more, but up until now has been willing to bow to Trey’s wishes.
Finally broaching the idea of seeing each other more often, during Trey’s writing periods, Lucien suggests that they begin to date each other on Friday nights. Trey agrees to the experiment and begins to flourish as Lucien gets him out of the house more—to eat, to swim, to visit the beach.
But can Trey remain faithful to his work ethic, get the job done with his novels and enjoy the distractions and adventures Lucien plans for him? Or will Lucien’s desire to have more break them apart?
Only time will tell.
REVIEW:
It’s always interesting to come into a story that has already establishes a couple and then see how their relationship has changed. I look to see if I can read a book and even missing their start…get involved in their present. This story is one of those ones that you can follow without having read the first one.
This book picks up 10 years after Trey and Lucien have met and fallen in love. They are in a committed relationship with each other, however, it’s not perfect as they go months without seeing or hearing from each other. This has been a rule since they gotten together. It’s because Trey has some issues stemming from his parents not being the most kind and loving people put on this earth.
Trey is this very popular author who was born blind, so he’s never known anything different than what his life has been like. Trey is really this sweet, passionate guy. Trey has these insecurities that stem from his parents not really liking the fact that he’s gay and telling him that he just wants someone to take care of him. Since then Trey has made it his goal to be able to live as independent life as possible. However, that is taking it’s toll on him. Trey Loves Lucien so much and wants to be able to live with him, but he’s got that thought in the back of his head asking if he can in fact still do his work and allow Lucien in.
Lucien…I really liked this guy. He is a strong character. Lucien’s will to not only move this relationship forward after 10 years, but to also allow Trey the opportunity to grow as a person…I LOVED how he loved Trey. Lucien owns his own business. He’s a successful businessman. He only wants Trey to know just how much he loves him and really wants their lives to be intertwined. I like that his love for Trey seems to grow and that as a character…he grows as well. He wants to take care of everything and shelter Trey and yet, he knows that Trey is a grown man who is independent. Lucien really takes the time to listen to Trey and help him when he needs someone to lean on. Lucien is quite frankly such a wonderful character. I really enjoyed watching him work to allow Trey to see that he can have Lucien around and still have his independence.
Now, again…this is a Sean Michael book so you know that the intimate scenes whether they were BDSM or vanilla were truly lovely. Not that any of it was there gratuitously…every scene on the page helped you to understand the dynamic of each character. I loved watching them grow closer as a couple through their intimate acts as well as doing other outside things. Sean again raises the bar on bringing such loveliness on screen.
I really liked how Sean changed the POV, so that you can see things through each character’s eyes. See how they were feeling and how things came across for them. I really enjoyed getting into each character’s headspace. I will say that Sean did an AMAZING job detailing Trey’s life and the way that he describes Trey’s experiences….Loved It!!
This book was wonderful from the very beginning and I didn’t feel that I missed ANYTHING by not reading the first book. I truly enjoyed watching the ever growing and changing relationship of these two characters.
