How much can a Dom ask of his submissive? And how much of himself?
For Derek and Tyler, Dominance and submission have been part of their love right from the first hello. But now Derek wants his submissive to go as deep as he is physically and emotionally able to. During two days and two nights, there are no safety words and very few limits. This is their chance to demonstrate their love for one another through the most extreme scenes they’ve ever played.
There is, however, one rule to trump all others for Tyler—to protect Sir’s most loved possession, even if it means disobedience or going against his own need to submit to his Master without question or complaint.
This weekend will open up levels of their relationship they’ve never dreamed of before.
Review:
I have a definite interest in the BDSM lifestyle and so I was happy to pick this book up and give it a read.
Derek and Tyler are a couple in an established relationship who are ready to take the BDSM aspect of their lives to another level. Derek is a man who loves his partner enough to explore his dominant side and Tyler has finally found the dominance he’s been craving.
When they plan for a weekend of complete submission, the idea of it is everything either of them could want. But sometimes the reality is way more complicated than the fantasy.
The premise of this book was intriguing. I loved the idea of them pushing limits and exploring new avenues in their lives. This story lived up to it’s promise quite well.
Although I’m not usually big about books switching POV’s it worked rather well in this one. It was nice to get into the minds of both men and watch how their feelings and the understanding of what was happening between them grew and changed.
We are given glimpses into Derek’s intense love for Tyler and how he encouraged his dominant side to emerge because it was what his partner needed from him. Derek has some anxiety about the whole thing but he keeps going as he sees how much Tyler is getting from what they are doing together and how much Derek is getting from it too.
From Tyler’s point of view, we get to watch as he comes to realize how much more he’s getting from submitting to his Sir than he realized and it’s interesting to watch his progression as he finally comes to realize what it is he really wants verses what he thought he wanted.
There is a lot of intense playroom action in this book so those of you looking for something a little naughtier than usual will enjoy it, but there is also some amazing emotions that come through in the strangest of places and I found myself a little overwhelmed by them even on the second read through the story.
The writing is technically very sharp although there are a couple of little lapses in detail that I caught, but then again, I do tend to be a little detail orientated. The dialogue between Derek and Tyler is smart, honest and I found myself as completely intrigued with storyline itself as I was with the smoking hot BDSM scenes.
There are no secondary characters in the story at all. The whole thing takes place at Derek and Tyler’s house over the course of a weekend and it was good in a way because the concentration on the characters was never broken, allowing the read to fall into the story.
I think this book can appeal to everyone. There’s very little actual angst, and it’s more of a character study than anything else. However, if you are squeamish about people being caused pain, even if they want it, this might bug you a bit. However I urge you to give it a try, especially if you’ve been exploring the idea of a BDSM lifestyle.
