Hey all!!! Jo here, checking in with my monthly blog post. I have to tell you, there hasn’t been much writing done in the last couple of weeks but I have a really good excuse for it this time. I was in FLORIDA!! I had thought the best thing about going would be escaping the frigid temps in Michigan, which, considering it was in the 70’s and 80’s the beautiful weather was right up there on the list of awesomeness but it wasn’t #1.
I was in Orlando at the Gaylord Palms attending the Dreamspinner Press Author Workshop. What an amazing hotel, an amazing event and even more amazing peeps!!!
I learned so much and the cherry on top was I had a blast doing it! I’d been working with Elizabeth North and Lynn West for over four years and had never met them. They are even more wonderful in person!!! If you’ve ever thought about becoming a Dreamspinner Author, I highly recommend it. Everything about them is welcoming, warm, professional, and they go out of their way to help you any way they can. I loved seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I won’t go through all the names as I know I’d probably miss one but all of you made the event special!
I do however want to point out a couple highlights from the weekend. Poppy Dennison’s presentation on Marketing and Branding was a huge wealth of information. She is also the sweetest and goes out of her way to help others. If you have any questions about marketing ect I know she’d be delighted to answer any questions you may have. She can be reached at poppy@dreamspinnerpress.com. The other was Damon Suede’s presentation on Intense Intimacy. OMG what a dynamic speaker. I know if I had a teacher like him in high school I’d have aced all my classes. I also learned a shit ton and I know that from this moment forward Damon will be in my head swimming around while I write sex scenes. LOL
I hope they don’t mind me using their photos to also point out a great cause that all the attendants participated in. It’s called Selfie respect and I hope you’ll take a moment and check it out. You can also see all the pics taken from the author weekend!
SelfieRespect is a collaborative project between Jewish Family Services Columbus and the You Will Rise Project. Our mission is to inspire conversations about what respect means, and empower people to take action by declaring respect for themselves and others with their selfie pledge. All photos from the project wlll be incorporated into a monumental public art installation to be unveiled this spring! Love yourself. Respect yourself. Love others. Respect others. End bullying. #selfierespect
