REVIEW:
My Man Declan is a surprisingly good short read. Funny and heart-warming, Amber is very adept at packing lots of twists and turns into short stories!!
Declan West is Phoenix Moorhaven’s half House Elf/half human butler. Phoenix is a Master Vampire. Declan has worked for Phoenix for 2 years and in that time has bonded not only with the house ‘as House Elves do!’ but he has fallen in love with his boss. As a House Elf Declan has obsessive compulsive tendencies, everything has to be perfect. Declan’s mother has warned him against becoming involved with his boss as she doesn’t want the same thing that happened to her with Declan’s father, to happen to him. Phoenix has always lived by the same code, don’t get involved with the help! That pretty much goes by the wayside when he finds out Declan has planned a date. Lorrie, Phoenix’s Second and best friend does nothing to help the situation with all of his teasing. This is where the fun starts!
It’s when Declan tries to date that Phoenix realises that Declan is a lot more than just his butler. I say try because no-one will date or touch anyone who ‘belongs’ to a Master Vampire, especially not Phoenix Moorhaven. Their relationship progresses nicely, even Lorrie has realised how settled the two are. He wants his own mate now!! An alpha wolf that Phoenix is doing business with decides he wants what Phoenix has. What he doesn’t realise is that not only is he not a very good Alpha but no-one takes what is Phoenix’s! Declan believes because he’s only half house elf he’s not as powerful but when his mate is captured he proves to himself and everyone that he is indeed very powerful!
I really enjoyed this book, and I hope that Amber is going to write at least one more story to tie up loose ends. I would love to see these characters with a series of their own. Does Lorrie find his mate? I would definitely recommend My Man Declan to everyone who loves to read short and sweet story’s with a bit of a bite!
