The path to happiness isn’t always the easiest.
Chance Becket’s life was mapped out. He’d one day own the ranch he grew up on, have a family, and be the son he was raised to be, like all good boys in Small Town, U.S.A.
When his high school sweetheart calls for a break during her last semester of college, the last place Chance thought he’d end up was in his old friend Bradley’s bed.
Bradley Heart blasted out of the closet before his family could name him heir apparent to his father’s church. After six years away, a job layoff has him coming home to work behind the scenes. He and his father have little interaction and he’s fine with it staying that way when he returns home. Going back into the closet, for any reason, is not on his list of things to do. But Chance may prove too much a temptation, especially with the simmering feelings they’ve had for one another since they were teens.
Confused over his sexuality, Chance has to decide what’s more important — loyalty to his family and the path set forth, or the promise of happiness with not just the only man, but the only person, he’s ever really wanted.
REVIEW:
Well this book did not disappoint!! I was hesitant because of all the amazing reviews. Not because I didn’t believe them, because I did. I was nervous because after reading some of them I was worried the story wouldn’t live up to all the accolades. Well, let me tell you this one does. Kade is such an amazing storyteller and he had me wrapped up tight in Bradley and Chance.
Chance Becket has always done what was expected of him. And for the most part he was pretty content, or so he thought. He likes working on his family’s ranch. Loves the animals and being around family and it all works, for awhile. After his long term girlfriend asks for a break while they find themselves he finds himself with some soul searching time. One night he decides to go out to a gay bar where he gets reacquainted with a childhood friend, Bradley Heart, and that’s when he’s overcome with a crazy attraction to Bradley.
Bradley Heart has been out of the closet basically his whole sexual life. His father is an anti-gay televangelist preacher whose congregations reach to the thousands, he’s known very early on that he’d never follow in his father’s footsteps.
When Bradley sees a kid he use to do rodeo with and who he always found attractive at a gay bar, he’s immediately interested. Having had a pretty rough few weeks, getting dumped, and being laid off Bradley wants to forget life with Chance, and holy hell are these two not incredibly hot together. The chemistry between these two was so on fire they could have burned up some sheets. I loved reading that fire and passion.
This story is a perfect combination of secrets being revealed, embracing dormant sexuality, loving yourself, and being true to your feelings. I loved how feel good this book made me. I literally smiled through most of it.
Another fantastic part was the side characters. They were so supportive, helpful, and understanding.
I couldn’t recommend this story any more…it’s absolutely fantastic!!!
