BLURB:
Former competitive surfer and Honolulu homicide detective Kimo Kanapa’aka is in his element in his home state of Hawaii. But a ski trip with his partner, fire investigator Mike Riccardi, knocks him off balance. As a bitter storm rages outside the condo where they’re staying, one of Mike’s college buddies is feuding with his wife and the other is making sexy overtures to Kimo. Will these tensions ruin the vacation and perhaps even drive a wedge between Kimo and Mike?
REVIEW:
Well that was a short bland story…. Here’s the plot: Mike and Kimo go on vacation to Colorado to meet some friends and ski. One of the couples they are going with is fighting and ruins the trip for everyone. The end. I didn’t like any of the characters, including Mike and Kimo, there isn’t enough about them to get to know them or care about them. The couple that was fighting was horrible, and I had no interest in them at all. The third couple didn’t do much other than try and get Mike and Kimo to have sex with them. Mike and Kimo did have sex a couple of times, but it wasn’t particularly interesting or sexy. Oh, there is a blizzard mentioned, but it doesn’t add anything to the plot. The characters just acknowledge that it is snowing, but it doesn’t seem to cause any drama. I would think that a book in a series based around a storm would have an actual storm in it.
Maybe it would have helped if I had read some of the other books with Mike and Kimo in them, maybe that would have given me a reason to care about them, but I sure didn’t in this book. I don’t really have an opinion on the writing, it was so short there wasn’t enough there to give me an idea of the authors style. So I didn’t like the plot, or the characters, the sex was not really interesting, and the writing was ok. Overall it was a very disappointing book. I hate to say that, but it was true….

Wow, very straightforward review. I know how it feels sometimes when the characters just don’t click with you.
