This is a Series Review of Olympic Cove Series (Books 1 & 2)
AUTHOR: Nicola Cameron
PUBLISHER: Evernight Publishing
SERIES REVIEW:
Ms. Cameron has written a delightful series that takes place along the coasts of Florida, as well as below the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic. I was really impressed with the way she took the BP Oil disaster and spun it into a tale of what would happen if something besides just fish and shrimp was residing below those waters. What if there was a Sea Goddess, caught in the oil and man’s further tampering, who was irrevocably changed by the pollution.
She brings in Mount Olympus and some of the Gods, Demigods, and various creatures of sea folklore, like mermen, mermaids and the like and ties them all together into a cohesive tale. So far there are two books in the series, but it was obvious from the end of the second that there will be more. I went through both of these books in a little over a day and loved them both. I highly recommend you give them a try. They aren’t you’re typical m/m romance, or even typical m/m/m romance. We’re talking three ways with Demigods and hot Mermen here….who can resist?
TITLE: Storm Season (Book 1)
LENGTH: 333 Pages
BLURB:
Ian West has his summer all planned out—go down to Florida, stay in his family’s beach cottage on Olympic Cove, and work on his first novel. But his plan gets thrown for a loop when he meets mischievous twin sea gods Bythos and Aphros and discovers he’s their fated consort.
As if that wasn’t enough, something in the Gulf of Mexico is turning mermaids into legendary monsters and gods into demons. Now, Ian not only has to finish his book and navigate the complicated waters of a ménage relationship with twin sea gods, he also has to stop an insane deity from turning the planet into a wasteland.
REVIEW:
I’ll admit it, the blurb for this book is what captured my attention. I live in Florida (on the Gulf Coast) and was excited to read a book about twin sea gods, mermaids, monsters, and ohhh, did I mention the twin sea gods? 🙂
This was my first book by Nicola Cameron, but it damn sure won’t be my last. This lady can write! A perfectly written, detailed book, with very believable characters, excellent editing, and even after 333 pages, I can’t wait to jump into Book 2!
But wait, let us discuss Book 1 first! Ian West lost his wife a year ago to a repeat drunk driver. The guy just got out a program and the judge gave him back his ability to get behind the wheel. The first thing he did was get drunk, get behind the wheel and kill Diana, Ian’s wife of 10 years.
A year later Ian is still devastated and has come to his family’s summer cabin in Florida. Ian is a science fiction author, who has mainly written short stories, but now is working on his first novel and the cabin should provide a quiet peaceful place to write. He had no idea just how quiet it actually would be. When he gets to Olympic Cove, the realtor who handles his family’s cabin for season rentals tells him that no other cabins in Olympic Cove are rented because of some “odd” things that have been happening.
Since he is all alone, Ian decides to go sit on the dock naked. See….he has been having these very vivid dreams which turn into wet dreams…and he woke up sticky and took off his clothes, so of course he went to sit on the dock naked. Then two handsome guys just happen to pop up near him playing with a ball (in the dark). There begins our story with those TWIN sea gods I spoke about above.
Before we know what hit us, Ian is sandwiched in between two big sexy men, twins, brothers, and it turns out Demigods. Bythos and Aphros are the “sort-of” sons of Poseidon, the God of the Seas. There begins the adventure. They tell Ian he is their “Agapetos” which translates to Beloved and it means they are fated to be mates…all three of them. They also tell him that they have been waiting millennia just for him to be born. Talk about a pick up line!
I don’t want to say anymore, because I loved the book so much that I could just go on and on and tell you the entire story. As I said, I absolutely loved this book. I highly recommend it! I can’t wait to start Book 2. In fact I’m going to do that right now!

TITLE: Breaker Zone
LENGTH: 297 Pages
BLURB:
When Dr. Nick Gardiner goes on the run from a psychotic ex and ends up at Olympic Cove, the last thing he expects to find is his friend Ian living with two redheaded demigods and learning how to be a storm god. Adding to the confusion is a wounded merman named Aidan who washes up in the cove, requiring Nick’s professional help. As it turns out, the handsome mer and his partner Liam have other plans for the ER doctor — to claim him as their destined mate and fulfill his need to submit.
A chance encounter at a local junk shop reveals that Nick has his own role to play in Ian’s battle against the insane Nereid Thetis. Under the reluctant mentorship of Chiron, Nick must master the use of the Rod of Asclepius if he wants to rescue his mates from a deadly fate and help Ian save the planet.
REVIEW:
As I said I was going to, I jumped right into this second book, immediately after finishing the first one. 297 Pages? Really…wow….they flew by. I was worried, sometimes sequels aren’t as good as the first book. Not so in this case. I liked the second one almost equally as much as the first!
Dr. Nick Gardiner shows up in Olympic Cove, on the run from his complete psychopath of an ex Dom. During their last BDSM session, the Dom took out a scalpel and carved his initial “B” into Nick’s chest. Nick is hoping by running to Florida from Chicago that he is far enough away from the psycho and he will give up looking for him.
Nick is a little surprised when he shows up at Ian’s door and finds Ian involved with the two hot redheaded Demigods from book one. He didn’t even know Ian was bi, and here he is having scored not one, but two hotties, and twins at that! Nick feels life just isn’t fair!
Nick doesn’t realize at the time that a wounded merman named Aidan is soon going to drastically change his life. And what happens when he finds out there is a third, named Liam who is a total Dom? There just might be some hot human/merman BDSM beneath the waves. And what happens when Barnard, the culprit behind the “B”, shows up with his goons?
This was another delightful romp complete with gods, monsters, handsome mers, confused humans, and the ever increasing dangers from the insane Neried Thetis. I highly recommend the book and the two book series. Since this second book just came out in December, it might be awhile before book three comes out…but I’ll be watching for it! Great job Ms. Cameron!
