In a land unforgiving of indulgent, dangerous sex, merchantman Eryn does his best to keep his desires in the dark…until the plight of a beautiful prince leads him out of the shadows and into adventures both sensual and terrible.
Capture, curse, and torture litter Eryn’s road to true love, along with carnal delights beyond his most wicked imaginings. His strengths and limitations are exposed—and the hard truth, that nothing holds him back more than the monster of self-loathing in his heart. Prince Wyn might be everything he’s dreamed of in a man—and master—but before Eryn can accept the exquisitely wicked affections of his one true love, he must first save himself…from himself.

Eryn hadn’t ever been much for dreaming. Sometimes he replayed encounters from the alley or mundane events from his day, but never often, and never more than a blurry scene repeated in the distance of his mind. The new dreams started similarly, as vague, cloud-filled things with no details he could recall when they were over. Yet even when they were difficult to discern, he woke aching and feeling empty, as if something beautiful had been ripped from his hands. At first the dreams came sporadically, leaving him in a funk the following day, but soon they came more and more often, until he visited that aching, cloud-filled space every night.
One night the clouds parted, and the prince appeared.
He appeared to be several years younger than Eryn at first glance, but when their gazes met, Eryn realized his dream visitor was not a boy, only a boyish man. There was nothing childlike, however, in how this one looked at Eryn.
The man was as tall as Eryn, but leaner, and handsome in a delicate, elegant manner. His features were striking: dark, cropped hair framed a face pale as milk, while a set of pale blue eyes stared through the mist at Eryn above a thin-lipped, pale pink mouth. This mouth, as the man regarded Eryn, quirked into a sly, knowing smile that arrested the young merchant even as it sprouted longing like spring leaves inside him.
The man in the clouds was resplendent in deep blue velvet lined with silver piping, and silver jewelry adorned his neck, wrists, and fingers. His stance commanded not only respect, but admiration. Yet there was a playfulness about him too. A purity and grace that felt, to Eryn, like a sigh.
“I have found you.” The dream man smiled with self-satisfaction. “I knew I could do it.”
“Who are you?” Eryn asked.
The beautiful stranger tipped up his chin haughtily. “I am Prince Wyn of the Northern Isles. One day I will rule my kingdom from my castle in the clouds.” He lowered his chin, managing to look even more imperious—and charming. “You are the one I am destined to marry.”
Eryn blinked. For a moment, he couldn’t quite bring himself to breathe. “But…we are both men. We cannot marry.”
Oh, Eryn quite adored that arrogant expression on Prince Wyn’s face. “I performed my godmother’s spell exactly. I asked to see the one I would marry. I didn’t tell the spell it had to be a man. In fact, I assumed it would be a woman, though I had hoped otherwise.” He walked around the edge of his cloud, tipping his head as he examined Eryn. “It has taken me to this place every night I’ve performed the spell, but it wouldn’t let me see you. So this time I asked it to show me my true love, not my betrothed. I ended up in this same place, but this time it let me see your face. Which means you are not only my husband to be, you are the man I must love. And that you are my true love is more important, according to the spell, than the fact that we will marry. Which is a good thing, I suppose.” He pulled the corner of his lip into his mouth as he frowned. “I must say, you’re not what I expected.”
“What did you expect?” Eryn’s head still reeled with the idea that he could marry any man, let alone a prince. He shook his head. “This is a dream. Of course it isn’t real.”
Prince Wyn paced to the other end of his cloud, lips pursed. “You haven’t told me your name. Work on your manners, please, before we meet again.”
The idea that they might meet again made Eryn’s heart lift. “Where are you? If you are truly a prince destined to marry me, tell me where you are and I will come to you.”
Wyn’s arrogant face fell, and the fear and sorrow Eryn saw on the prince’s face stabbed him in the heart. “The way to me is too far and too dangerous. I had hoped you would be a knight, or a warrior, but you’re wearing no armor. A magician would have done nicely as well. But I see you are none of these things. This is quite distressing. You are wonderfully handsome, of course, but handsome won’t win the war.”
Eryn was about to protest he was in his nightclothes, but a glance at himself showed he wore his usual trousers and waistcoat beneath his jacket, at least in this dream. “I am a merchant, and my name is Eryn.” His heart fluttered. “You think I am handsome?” The rest of the prince’s words hit home. “You are in a war?”
Wyn sighed, weariness mingling with his sorrow and fear. “I had so hoped you were a knight.”
The clouds closed around the prince, and the dream ended.

Thank you for a chance to win these books and for the interesting author interview. I wonder if Heidi knew how popular the short story Dirty Laundry would be and that a novel would come out of it?
