REVIEW:
Initially I was really excited about this story. I love reading about celebrities and how they juggle their lives in the limelight all while trying to have relationships. I also love stories about one night stands turning into something more. So, needless to say this blurb struck a chord with me.
Unfortunately this story was nothing like how I imagined it to be. It, quite frankly, just felt all wrong. The writing was good, flowed well, and easy to follow. But the characters were just not likeable. And there was absolutely no connection that I could decipher between these two. This was a romance novel with almost no romance or chemistry or anything that made you feel all gushy inside.
Porter Coleman runs an education center in Boston. He’s in LA for his sister’s wedding to a super famous rapper. With paparazzi everywhere it’s difficult to get a private moment. At the ceremony he meets the groom’s best friend Stiegen Lange.
After a brief conversation they both realize they live in the Boston area, so at this point I was thinking wow, they could really turn this into something more. But after the sex, they sort of got mad at each other. Weeks past and the next interaction between the two is another fight which results in Porter storming off. I feel there was never really an opportunity for these men to really connect. At least on the level I was hoping for.
More twists and turns happen. Stiegen unknowingly buys the building Porter rents for his business, which makes it so Porter has to look for another location. That in and of itself was a trial because the realtor turned into a psycho, which was a peculiar element to throw into the story. I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t get it.
Porter also deals with quite a bit of family drama and Stiegen also deals with some issues involving his best friend. So, all while this is happening they’re trying to formulate some bond. A bond, I felt never really happened.
I think this author is a good writer. I just didn’t connect with the story or the characters which made me just flat out dislike it.
