It’s a lovely little life Kelly Seaton leads. He’s got his own landscaping business, a nice little house, and his best friend, Cosimo Renaldi, and Coz’s goofball family who have adopted Kelly as their own. Sure, it’s a little lonely at night, but it’s a sweet deal, and Kelly can’t chance ruining it by letting on that he wants more—has always wanted more—with Coz.
Then Kelly’s past comes to town, bringing bad memories and hurt feelings that start to break Kelly down, and Coz just doesn’t understand why Kelly won’t let him be the support and strength that Kelly’s always been for him. They’ve already been through war, Coz’s devastating injury, and starting new careers in Mangrove, Florida. Why shouldn’t they face their chaotic pasts and build their future of quiet nights… together?
REVIEW:
I LOVE Mary Calmes so hard!!! She never fails to write characters I can’t help but absolutely adore. The novellas in this series are short but both have made huge impacts and I can’t wait for more from Mangrove.
Kelly Seaton loves his quiet life in Mangrove running his landscaping business. He has his best friend and his best friends family to make his life complete. He followed his friend to Mangrove after they left the military. Both injured inside and out they lean on each other to help them heal. He has a huge secret, however. He’s been in love with his best friend, Cosimo Rinaldi for years. He keeps his feelings hidden because he doesn’t want to ruin the precious friendship they have.
Cosimo Rinaldi lost his arm and lots of friends fighting in Afghanistan. He came home to Mangrove with his best friend, Kelly. He takes the training he got in the military very seriously so much so; he chooses a career in law enforcement. The decision to become a cop after the military doesn’t sit well with Cos’s family or Kelly. Cos is the glue in their small close knit family so they all fear something happening to him in the line of duty.
Cos is blind to the fact that Kelly is madly in love with him. But when he’s awakened to the fact he too realizes he’s in love with Kelly. What I thought was adorable was the fact that everyone in their little town knew what lay under the surface with these two. When they did come together with their eyes wide open it was smokin’ hot. All the passion and desire these two had just combusted their coupling was explosive and OH SO GOOD!!
True to Mary Calmes she peppers her stories with such great supporting casts. This book was so great and I’m so excited for book 3!!!
