Advertising executive and single parent Luke Fisher has grown painfully aware he becomes less dateable the minute he reveals he has a son. Not entertaining any hope of finding love is difficult, but after six years of failed romances, he’s resolved it doesn’t matter. He has all he needs in life: beautiful son, great job, supportive family.
Until two weeks before Christmas, he believed he needed nothing and no one, but that was before he met Jamie Papadopoulos. Jamie is the most attractive man Luke’s ever seen, and one look into his eyes confirms the feelings are mutual. After one amazing night, Luke’s doubts cloud his reasoning, and, deciding to pre-empt heartache, he throws away Jamie’s number, sure he’ll never see him again.
Luckily for Luke, Jamie knows they could be good together, and he is persistent, eventually wearing Luke down. As their one year anniversary approaches, Jamie knows exactly what he wants to give Luke. The platinum wedding bands have been burning a hole in his suitcase in the attic for two months. But before he can say those four life-changing words, an accident throws their well-ordered lives into disarray.
REVIEW:
This was an incredibly short story but what I found amazing was how much feeling she was able to put in such a short story. I was able to fall madly in love with Luke, Jamie, and Reggie. I wanted so much for this sweet little family and this book did not disappoint.
Luke Fisher is a single parent. He lives for his son. He’s openly gay but hasn’t had any success in the dating field because men usually don’t want kids. His little boy Reggie is precious, independent, smart, and spunky.
A few weeks before Christmas Luke runs into a sexy man at the coffee shop. The guy gives Luke his number but Luke throws it out because he figures this guy will be like all the guys before, no kid preference.
He then runs into the same sexy man a few weeks later at a bar with his friends. They talk briefly and decide to take things to the next level and leave together. They spend the next few hours in fiery hot passion and when I say that, it’s no joke. I’m no stranger to this authors writing so when I tell you Luke and Jamie are super hot together, they really friggin are super hot together. It’s amazing, but it ends as soon as they’re finished with Luke brushing Jamie off because he knows he’s not going to want a relationship with kids.
Luke is in for a huge surprise when he goes to Reggie’s parent teacher conference only to find that his love interest is none other than Reggie’s teachers’ assistant.
The chemistry between these two is of the charts. Even in a school setting, the looks between the two of them say so much. Luke agrees to go on an actual date with Jamie; since he knows he loves kids and the rest as they say is history.
The book flashes forward a year; Luke and Jamie are happily cohabitating and parenting Reggie together. There’s a huge incident that happens and it’s so moving and so profound with how they feel for each other and how the outside world views their relationship. I loved it.
This book broke so many molds for me. How Reggie was conceived, how Luke found love, how Luke kept love, and more importantly how Jamie and Luke became a couple. This is without a doubt a must read!!!
