TITLE: The Wrong Man
SERIES: Right and Wrong #2
AUTHOR: Lane Hayes
PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press
LENGTH: 220 pages
BLURB:
Successful owner of an upscale boutique in fabulous West Hollywood, Brandon Good swears by his personal edict to “live in the present.” After a bad breakup, he agrees to dog-sit to keep his mind off his ex. Never did he expect the dog to belong to a man from his past, the only man to ever truly break his heart.
When Jake Westley relocates to join the WeHo fire department, the last thing he anticipates is reuniting with his secret high school love. Thrilled with the prospect of reconnecting with Bran, Jake feels no guilt in using his charming old dog as an unwitting matchmaker. As he and Bran rekindle their friendship, it becomes clear the intense attraction they once felt is stronger than ever. But as hard as they try to leave the past behind, painful memories resurface. Bran will have to confront his fears and consider the possibility that the man he swore was absolutely the wrong one might be perfect after all.
REVIEW:
“Love isn’t a fairy tale. The real thing challenges you. It asks for your time, your faith, your understanding, and a fuckload of patience.”
What I love so much about Lane Hayes books, especially with series, is the fact that they get better and better with each one that’s released. I often find with series that the best one is always the first then they sort of go downhill. That is not the case with this series. I am having so much fun reading about these rich characters in beautiful WeHo.
Brandon Good owns a home goods store in West Hollywood. An out and proud lover of all things that have to do with the here and now. He is fiercely loyal to his employees and dear friends he considers family. So loyal, in fact, that he decides to help a co worker out by dog sitting her neighbor’s dog for an hour.
This is where we are introduced to, Mack. He’s a distinguished lab of 13 years old. Being that he is older and diabetic he needs a bit more care then most dogs. Immediately, you absolutely fall head over heels in love with this animal, but he is really more like a person. The description of his expressions, personality, and overall demeanor just warm your heart. And Brandon is not immune to his charm.
Which leads me to Mack’s person; unbeknownst to Brandon Mack’s “dog father” is Brandon’s first everything from high school, Jake Westley. So, when Jake goes to Brandon’s store to pick up Mack they both are shocked, to say the least. But what is very apparent is the fact that the attraction is still incredibly strong between the two. Brandon, however, has a strict rule to never live in the past so he wants Jake gone and fast. Jake, however, has plans of his own and starts pursuing Brandon. They slowly start to hang out and they’re relationship evolves into something more.
The heat and passion between these two is off the charts HOT! As their feelings for each other evolve into much more, Brandon’s feelings for Mack evolve as well. He starts taking care of him regularly while Jake is at work and they form a pretty significant bond.
Through trial and tribulations, regretful ex’s, potential loss, hurt, and comfort these two battle it all in hopes of staying together. I loved how they both concurr their fears and scaled walls for each other.
I love where this series is going and I can’t wait for all these beautiful men to find their loves. Looking forward to Adam and Derek’s story be that separate or together.

[…] So that’s the simple plot – do they take a chance or not? Running alongside the main storyline are sub plots involving a meddling friend interfering with an ex-boyfriend and girlfriend, and Elliot’s volleyball career where the meddling friend strikes again. Other than that annoyance, this is a nice straightforward, low angst book with no subterfuge or misunderstandings. Elliot and Braden are both likable, sympathetic characters for whom we can feel their successes and failures. The side characters include a few good friends, The Meddler, Elliot’s volleyball partner, a pair of exes, and Braden’s bi-denying mother. Oh, and one vivacious, ridiculous, hilarious, F-bomb dropping woman in the form of Elliot’s mother, Karma. There are characters from previous Out in College books, as well as an Easter egg from Hayes’ The Wrong Man. […]
