Jacob Danby loves cats. He makes room in his home and heart for seven of them, all strays and rescues. Unfortunately, his lawyer ex-boyfriend, Owen, didn’t share the same affinity for the pitter-patter of cat paws. When Owen presented Jacob with an ultimatum, the cats or their relationship, Jacob had no choice but to pick his pets.
When Jacob finds out that having so many cats puts him in violation of a town ordinance, he reluctantly turns to Owen for legal help. Can Jacob find a way to trust Owen again, or will his pride cost him more than just his beloved cats?
REVIEW:
Being a cat lover I was immediately drawn to this book. I loved the idea of a guy that loved cats as much as I do. This story is super short, only 48 pages so it goes really quick but I was engaged the whole time. I wanted to find out what happened between Owen and Jacob and I wanted to see if they got a second chance at happiness.
Jacob is a cat lover. You can tell he loved his cats like people love their children. He has seven furry felines that live in his home. Unbeknownst to him he is in violation from his township because there is a rule stating you can only have 5 animals in your home. Knowing he faces possibly losing his home or his cats he reaches out to his ex-boyfriend Owen, who happens to be a lawyer.
Initially pretty hostile towards Jacob, Owen agrees to help Jacob. When they start meeting to plan what to do about the township you can tell Owen still has feelings for Jacob.
Things heat up quickly between the ex-lovers and their chemistry is pretty exciting and real. I loved watching them explore eachother again. It was new but familiar.
Although the story was short I did enjoy the plot. This book wasn’t long enough to really delve into these characters like I would haave liked but I did like them both and cared about what happened.
Through several misunderstandings and a lot of miscommunication you realize why they in fact broke up. Watching them overcome that and get back to a good place was nice. I also enjoyed the random interactions between the characters and the cats. They were a great addition to the story.
Overall, this was a quick, quirky read. I’d recommend this to anyone who loves cats and reunited lovers.
