BLURB:
In the kingdom of Teruna, the red-cloaked Seruani teach the Terunans the art of love. Taken from their homes at seventeen to be trained, they are shunned as outcasts by society and considered the lowest of the low. So when Prince Tanish falls in love with the Seruan Feyar, the man who took his virginity and the only one to share his bed, he is not about to declare that love. No one can ever know, because the consequences would be too painful to consider for both of them.
When the king of Vancor visits Teruna, he promises that his son, Prince Sorran, will marry Prince Tanish to solidify the alliance between the two kingdoms, with the proviso that the virginal Sorran is instructed in the art of pleasing his husband-to-be. When Tanish’s father chooses Feyar to be this instructor, the lovers decide Prince Sorran must be taught that this is to be a marriage in name only….
A resentful prince, unwilling to share his lover.
A resentful Seruan, unwilling to share his prince.
And the shy prince whose very nature sparks changes in the lives of all those around them.
Teruna is about to change forever.
REVIEW:
Wow, just wow. This is not the K.C. Wells that you’re used to. If you’re looking for something similar to anything else she has written, this is not the book. This is high fantasy at its best. I loved this book!
When we meet Prince Tanish of Teruna, he is the crown prince and heir to the throne of Teruna.
Teruna is a land with a class of residents below notice by most citizens. The group is known as the Serauni. The Serauni since ancient times have been reviled by the people of Teruna. Once they are taken from their homes at age seventeen, they never see their families again. They are trained in the art of love, and then share and teach the art of love to the Terunans. They wear red cloaks and are ignored in everyday activities. But they are available to sooth the needs of Terunans when those needs arise.
There is one minor problem, Prince Tanish has fallen in love with his Seraun, Feyar. Feyar is the only person that Prince Tanish has ever been intimate with and since meeting Prince Tanish, Feyar has not provided his services to anyone but the Prince. The Prince can never share the secret of his love with anyone though, because as I mentioned above the Serauni are reviled and such a union could never be sanctioned.
Enter Prince Sorren of Vancor. Prince Sorren’s father has proposed a royal wedding, marrying the two princes to solidify their countries alliance against the neighboring country which is looking at Teruna with covetous eyes. Prince Sorren has always been different, he dreams very accurate premonitions and also sees colors around people. (I read that as seeing their auras.) In Vancor, the equivalent of the Serauni are actually revered. Sorren is appalled at the way the Serauni are treated in Teruna and before you know it he is out making friends with them! Unheard of in Teruna, especially for a Prince!
What will happen when Sorren sees himself with both Tanish AND Feyar in his visions! How will that work when Tanish loves Feyar and Feyar loves Tanish. Is there room for a third person in their relationship? How would they keep it secret? What will happen when Tanish’s father the King insists that Feyar be the one to instruct the virginal Sorren in the ways of love before the royal wedding?
I’ll tell you what happens…..a damn good book! I really enjoyed this story and hope Ms. Wells writes more like it. It has a lot of sex, but not an overload. It has a wonderful storyline and believable characters. Finally, it has just enough magic to make it magical. Great job Ms. Wells! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy tale.
