LENGTH: 142 pages

Every year Cole Wilder hosts a big Christmas dinner for all the employees of Wild R Farm, and every year he takes on too many responsibilities then ends up exhausted and even more cranky than usual. This year, Cole’s husband, Jonah, is determined things will be different. Not only is he having their bathroom renovated to add a little luxury to their lives, he’s got plans to whisk Cole away for a Christmas vacation. But getting Cole to agree to let their ebullient friend, Tristan, organize Christmas at the farm is easier said than done.
Tristan promises to take perfect care of the farm, but as soon as Cole and Jonah leave, chaos ensues—couples fighting, construction disasters, kitchen woes. The only thing keeping confessed Christmas-o-phile, Tristan, merry is his boyfriend, Wes. He knows exactly what Tristan needs so they can pull the whole Wild R Farm crew together for the happiest Christmas they’ve ever had.
Review:
I have to admit I’m big fan of the Wild R series so I was more than happy to pick up this addition to the fold.
The first thing I have to say is that I love the glimpses, big and small, of all the characters who call Wild R Farms home. Sometimes it’s nice to see how someone’s happily-ever-after is going and Christmas is a lovely time to see them.
Cole is over-worked and Jonah wants to do something to help him relax, even if it means dragging his husband into it kicking and screaming. Taking things easy isn’t ever on Cole’s radar and it’s going to be up to Jonah to use just the right kind of motivation to get him to go along with the plan. Jonah has no problem coming up with the right incentive.
The interaction between these two men swings in so many directions from hot and growly to sexy and sweet and all of it left me smiling. I also appreciate how Ms. Violet uses the opportunity to have Cole and Jonah grow and develop in their relationship even though they are a well-established couple.
Tristan is left in charge of everything while Cole and Jonah are gone, at least as much as you can be in charge of a farm full of shifters and it doesn’t take long for things to go downhill. Wes struggles to help his boyfriend, but Tristan’s stubbornness and determination for everything to be perfect doesn’t make it easy.
I found myself giggling during the descriptions of the bathroom renovations a lot. It’s one of those Murphy’s Law situations, where if it can go wrong it does. It’s not that the guys don’t want to do a good job, it’s just that the communication between the “workers” isn’t that great and fate really does seem to have it out for them.
I love Silvia Violet’s world of shifters. Her characters are well written and easy to connect to, the sex is steamy hot, but doesn’t take over the whole story and most of the story flows well, keeping the reader engaged and entertained although there are a few parts where it dragged.
It really isn’t going to make much sense without having read the other books in the series but to me, that’s really just a great reason to do more reading!
This is a fun, low-angst story for those of you in need of a smile.
