Please Read. And comment, so a lot of people can find out about this convention. If you have a blog or website and… would allow us to talk about Euro Pride Con, please let us know per PM or at europridecon@gmail.com
Last year was the first time I ever attended a convention. After becoming a reviewer and being in close contact with so many amazing authors, bloggers, readers, editors, artists, … in this community, I just had to fly to England to attend the UK Meet and it was AMAZING.
It was also not completely cheap and to be honest at that point I would not have been able to afford it as student, if my parents hadn’t given me some of their frequent traveler miles.
Still, being from Germany I found it sad that there was no LGBT Fiction convention on the European mainland. Conventions that could be reached by car, train or bus from the different European countries like Spain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and many others with growing interest in LGBT Fiction.
I think the fact that next year’s UK Meet is already booked out speaks volumes of the interest for conventions in Europe. Our goal with Euro Pride Con was to offer the same quality people are used to from other conventions at a location that will allow readers throughout Europe unable to fly to England or the USA access to interesting panels and give them the opportunity to meet their favorite authors.
Authors won’t just be able to attend panels and meet other readers and writers from Europe and all over the world, there will be opportunities to connect with internationally known and local publishers. Authors interested into expanding into the German market can get to know translators and publishers who can help them and get their names out to fans of the genre.
Readers will be able to listen to exclusive excerpts from books, meet some of their favorite authors, attend interactive panels like a Co-Writing panel led by Aleksandr Voinov and Lori Gallagher Witt, listen to our amazing featured speakers Jay Bell and Rj Scott, experience the gay community live in the big Munich Pride celebration, and so much more.
We already have quite a few authors who will be there for sure and want to run a panel and more and more volunteers contact us to help out with local registrations and wherever we need people. Please email us at europridecon@gmail.com if you want to support us with your time and experience as well.
Starting a brand new convention is a huge undertaking, a huge thrill, a huge risk. Signing the contract was a rush of fear and excitement. Thus I want to thank all the authors and readers who supported this idea from the getgo and encouraged us with their unwavering support. You will get to meet them and see how amazing they are
Now, ONE LAST THING that I think is important to mention before I let you go to make reservations and register *g*.
If you get your ticket before the end of January, it will cost either 150 Euro for a normal ticket or 160 Euro for a spotlight ticket. That is the price for the entire weekend Sat/Sun. You will get dinner buffet on Saturday and Lunch Buffet on Sunday (Bavarian Style and if the weather is nice in the Biergarten) as well as drinks in the convention room. Throughout the two days, you will be able to attend panels in our big room for 150 people and in the smaller room that seats 60.
Munich is not cheap, but given the two rooms, the size of the convention, technical equipment, food & drinks during the two days, I really think we can offer you an amazing quality for the smallest possible price.
This is completely non-profit. We have organized this, because we really wanted to make it happen and we are a bit crazy. We will pay the hotel 145 Euros per attendee, if our tickets are sold out. We do need a small buffer for emergencies and organisational things, but right now you can get your ticket at the lowest rate we can offer for you and we hope it will enable as many people as possible to attend the convention and experience what was a life-changing moment for me.
There will be free LGBT oriented entertainment due to the celebration of Euro Pride and the Tollwood Festival in Munich at the same time and we selected two hotels across the street from each other (the Sheraton Arabellapark and the Westin Grand Arabellapark), so you can choose a more affordable room (with a balcony for smoking) or a more luxurious room, without being more than a minute from the event location (the Sheraton). The hotels belong together and both are beautiful (and have a Biergarten). You can choose your hotel, room and rate completely independently and you can share your room without surcharge in both hotels. We set up a forum to make finding roomies and sharing cars easier for you as well as update it with information about Munich and the other attendees in the coming days and weeks.

Don’t miss out on your chance to be part of this. It’s time to allow yourself a nice treat. You won’t regret it!
I’m so looking forward to meet y’All!!!
P.S. I know a few of you were eager for some updates, but negotiations with the hotel took longer than expected. It was important for us that we could keep the ticket prices as cheap as possible and get as much for our delegates out of their money as possible. I’m really happy with what we were able to get for you guys.
Rats! I’m going to have a brand new grand-baby (due July 5th).
