REVIEW:
I usually adore every Sean Michael book I pick up as I am an avid reader and fan of the Hammer series. But I have to say this is my least favorite in the series thus far. Just too sweet for my blood. In this book we have Storm, bakery owner and as the blurb says it is very popular with the Hammer club members since Storm makes a lot of risque cakes for them. He is an extremely happy and bubbly individual that has given up everything for the bakery. Then we have Zeb, a single top, Hammer Club member, and fellow small business owner. He stops by the bakery because he LOVES sweets and of course doesn’t gain a single pound (wish that were me). He takes one look at the sweet man and wants him instantly. After agreeing to a date, Zeb learns that Storm isn’t into the BDSM lifestyle but he see’s the natural sub in Storm and sets out to win the little man’s heart.
That’s the basic premise of the story. I normally like a long book but this one was just too long and I just couldn’t get into it like the other books. Even the problem of Storm not being into BDSM was wrapped up nice and quick. Even though I liked the sex scenes there was way too much of it and not enough of a plot. It seemed like on every other page once they got together, they were having sex! Yea it was hot but I mean how could the man not to be sore! The bumps in the road were not that significant. When Storm was robbed it was solved and over rather quickly. Zeb just hustled him into living with him. Boom no problem there. Everybody is happy once again. They were very sweet together quite unbelievably so. Storm had past anger issues but one sharp word and some rope from Zeb, all good again. Nobody is saying that I wanted something bad to happen to the characters but I bit of drama would have been a great addition. I also like to know a bit more of the characters background and I didn’t get too much of that here as well. The brief cameo of Hammer members was nice but didn’t really make or break the story. In the end it was an okay read and worth a look just to get a feel of the series. You can definitely read this as a standalone but I don’t recommend this be your first read. Go to the beginning and you will definitely see why I love Sean Michael so much.
