REVIEW:
Awww…. This is just a sweet and silly bit of Christmas fun!
This story is a continuation of the series Paranormal Dentistry for the Fanged and Friendly, which is centered around a group of shifters living in White Pine. In the last few books we have met Nikko and Phillip, both chipmunk shifters from a large family. And I do mean large! There are 20 siblings I think! Nikko is mated to a grumpy bear shifter named Dallas, the owner of a lovely little bakery, and Phillip is mated to the local dentist, wolf shifter Gunner. In the last book the boys convinced their mates to go home for a family Christmas with the chipmunk clan.
The first issue they have is Gunner is terrified to fly, takes too much Drammamine and passes out! He is physically carried in to meet his new in-laws by Dallas. How embarrassing! But things settle down from there…. Dallas and Gunner are accepted by the chipmunk horde, fed tasty beef, have a little chipmunk loving, and we get a very sweet story.
So. What I liked about this story: It was fun and cute, and made me laugh. I remember taking my boyfriend (now husband of 28 years) to my family Christmas celebration for the first time. There were NO chipmunks involved, but still, the chaos and noise of a large group was overwhelming for someone not used to it. And I don’t have 19 siblings! It made me think fondly of the good old days… I can see why Dallas and Gunner had issues! I loved the big group feeling, the goofy chipmunks, and the calmness that Dallas and Gunner bring to the story. I love the sweetness of Nikko and Phillip. There was a little bit of sex, each couple has a lovely Christmas interlude, and I do love the connection between the two couples.
But, there isn’t a lot of story here. It’s all about Christmas, which is fine since it’s a Christmas story, I just wish there had been something more to it. A little drama, something unexpected, just something more. This felt like a couple of chapters at the end of a longer book, not really a book on its own. There were also a few typos, I don’t remember seeing that in the other books. That’s not really a problem, just something I noticed that seemed odd. I want to give this one a high rating just because it was so fun, and it was, I did really enjoy it, but I have to be realistic. It was a great bit of fun, I have no issue with any of it, I totally enjoyed reading it, but it was just short and silly, fun and fluffy!
If you have read the other books in the series you will love it, if you haven’t read them it probably won’t make much sense to you.
