REVIEW:
Kenzie Cade is a new author to me. But I am very pleasantly surprised to have chosen this book. This is a very sweet, feel good type of story. What the author was able to accomplish with such a short story was amazing. We got a great, solid plot with good writing. The story was solid with strong character building which allowed us as the reader to really get a feel for who Trent and Callum were.
Trent just lost his grandmother, Astrid. She basically raised him and was his whole world. In her will she left her entire estate to him which included their family home, Hummingbird House, in England. The problem for Trent, however, is the fact that years and years ago his childhood friend, Callum broke his heart.
Callum’s family owns an inn very close to Trent’s family home, Hummingbird House. Callum and Trent grew up together and were very close. Trent has always been out of the closet. Callum however has always been in the closet, even believing himself to be straight. So when he starts having feelings for Trent, the only thing he knows to do is reject them and Trent.
Hurt, Trent leaves England with his grandmother, to go back to the states.
So, years after that incident, Trent is back in England settling his grandma’s affairs. Surprisingly, Callum’s family still owns the same Inn and Callum is still there helping run the place.
Needless to say Trent is still very hurt so quite a few of their interactions are Trent lashing out at Callum. Callum, having come out of the closet years ago realizes Trent is who his heart wants and sets out to make Trent understand they’re meant to be.
Their coming together is so perfect for this story. It’s sweet, passionate, and hot but the love these two feel for each other is palpable on the pages. I thought the writing was great and the plot was strong.
This is a perfect story right in time for the holidays.
