Seth has never had much luck with men. Why he is constantly attracted to the gorgeous straight guy who always ends up ripping out his heart is something only a psychologist would be able to understand. Seth only knows he needs to stay away from them. All of them.
Except that Marc, a charismatic “ladies man,” comes strolling into the shipping department where Seth works and proceeds to tear down every single wall of security Seth has built to protect himself. There is no way Seth can resist. And now hell has to be paid by Seth’s heart. Again.
Marc has only dated women…okay, bedded them. But after taking to bed yet another woman from his office and getting slapped this time—hard—for not being able to even “perform,” he realizes something has to change. Yet Marc has no idea that “change” would be in the gender of the partner he’ll take into his bed…or into his heart…
Review:
I really wanted to like this story. The blurb sounded interesting and it had a lot of promise. But I was left a little disappointed.
Seth is a sweet man who’s been hurt so many times, but to be fair, he just seems to have abysmal taste in men. I liked him and wanted to protect him, but mostly from himself. I hope more men aren’t led around by their libido this much.
Marc…well, I never really did warm up to Marc. He’s really quite self-centered and never does redeem himself in my eyes. His only goal seems to be to have good sex and when he realizes that women just aren’t doing it for him, he decides to experiment with a man…Seth to be exact.
He doesn’t really seem to have a lot of concern about hurting Seth’s feelings and for me, it stays that way through the whole book. Everything he does is all about him and although he does eventually figure out that he has hurt Seth terribly, he just seems confused rather than repentant.
Also, the women in this story are all straight out-bitches and I’m getting a little tired of the woman bashing that seems to be a theme in so many m/m stories.
I did read the whole book through, hoping for something to like. The writing itself is technically good, but mostly I found myself very frustrated with both main character’s behavior and not in a good way.
I’m sure some people will like this story for the hot sex scenes which are really well written, but this story was just really not to my taste.
