Ever since he moved to London, shy editor Eric has been watching his neighbor, Crooked Smile, jog every morning. Aspiring restaranteur Rhys eats breakfast by the window so he can see his neighbor, Bed Head, help the old woman downstairs clean off her car. When Eric’s roommate unexpectedly returns home for the holidays, she realizes their idiocy and, with the help of Rhys’s business partner, Andreas, tries to help both men see there might be more in their futures than they’re seeing through their windows.
REVIEW:
Eric is kind of a recluse, especially since he moved to London. He’s shy, introvert and a little bit of a nerd. He’s moved along to England with his best friend, because he had nothing keeping him in the United States if Janet wasn’t there. He’s secretly observing his neighbor, but it’s not stalking. It’s not!
Rhys and his best friend are opening a restaurant, which keeps him extremely busy. But not busy enough that he doesn’t notice his cute new neighbor. He’d ask the guy out if it wasn’t for the fact that the guy scowls at him every time he tries to talk to the man. If looks could kill, Rhys’s be very dead indeed.
Then when Janet comes home for Christmas and runs into Rhys in the elevator, Rhys invites them to the test opening of his restaurant–– which turns out to be a disaster. From there on, positive things start to happen.
There isn’t really much to say about this story. It was nice. A bit cliché maybe, but sweet and funny. The writing was good, the characters likable and the whole atmosphere holiday-ish. But it wasn’t great, there wasn’t anything that stood out to make it outstanding.
So, yes it’s nice for a quick read. It will give you that warm holiday feeling. But will it make you go all gooey, no. It’s in one word; nice.
