REVIEW:
When Mike Miller, a former high school quarterback, came out to his family, they threw him out with the clothes on his back, and his brother stole his savings. Mike was homeless, broke and had nowhere to go. He didn’t get further than the outskirts of town, where he went to work at a tired old dirty gas station and lived on his meager wages in the attached seedy motel, also owned by his boss. Three years of being treated like crap come to a head one day when he has to go pump gas for a really hot guy in a Jaguar convertible. Man…the guy is hot. But he is obviously way out of Mike’s league.
James Austin is back in town on his way to a conference. He recognizes Mike instantly as his high school crush. The only problem, Mike was also one of his high school bullies. My, how times have changed. James is now a wealthy inventor and has been working out, a LOT! He no longer resembles the scared skinny kid he was in high school. Instantly he decides to get his revenge. What better way than making the bully debase himself. After James snidely tells Mike to wash his car while he is there, he follows Mike into the wash bay and coerces Mike to masturbate in front of him in the car wash bay for $200. James thinks he is getting even with the straight bully, but somewhere in the middle of masturbating it comes out that Mike is also gay and the humiliation James suffered at his hands was Mike trying to get with him all those years ago and not knowing how to do it.
Intrigued, James offers Mike $2,000 to attend a conference with him that weekend and pose as his “trophy” boyfriend. Before they even get to the conference they are accosted by one of James’ frenemies in a department store where they are buying Mike a new wardrobe to match his “trophy” status. The frenemy is an opinionated asshole who instantly starts talking down to James. After hearing enough, Mike steps up and very effectively puts him in his place. Over the next couple days in fact Mike does a lot of that, soon proving to have been a great choice for the acting job and a huge asset to James in meeting people, since Mike isn’t shy like James. But is it all acting on Mike’s part?
What will happen though when James thinks further about all that bullying? How do these two men who were enemies in high school pull off being sweethearts to the folks at the conference? Is Mike only after James’ money? Is James only doing it to humiliate Mike as a way of getting revenge all these years later?
I highly recommend you pick up this story and find out. I have yet to read anything by the sisters that pen under the name J.A. Merikan that I didn’t love. This cute little modern day fairytale was a great read on this chilly afternoon! And best yet, it is currently a free download on both Amazon and ARe! Go get it, and get some J.A. Merikan love on!
