PUBLISHER: Totally Bound
LENGTH: 73 Pages

Aidan has a huge crush on Jon, but not only is Jon his boss, albeit temporarily, he is also recovering from a bad break-up. On his final day at Jon’s publishing company, Aidan finds the courage to make his move. It results in what should be a solitary evening of mind- blowing sex before they go back to their own lives. But when a confrontation with his landlord leaves Aidan bruised, bleeding and homeless, Jon and his friends come to his aid.
Jon is smitten by Aidan, and utterly terrified. His last relationship has left him with some pretty deep emotional scars and he has no wish to get back in the game. But the more time he spends with Aidan, the less time he wants to give to the past.
However, Aidan has something in common with Jon’s ex that could spoil any chance they have of making a life together.
Review:
When I picked up this book, I had high hopes for it. I loved the premise of the story and hurt/comfort is a favorite genre of mine. However it didn’t quite live up to the promise it showed.
Aidan has had a very hard time recently, but he still has hope for a bright future. He’s working hard to get his life back and when he finally gets a chance to spend the night with the boss he’s been crushing on, he accepts that the damaged man is only there for one night that’s as heartbreaking as it is wonderful.
Jon never wants to put his heart in jeopardy again and even though he can’t stop thinking about Aidan, he decides that the only thing he can give him is a no-strings-attached night of passion. But when Aidan is hurt and ends up in the hospital, he can’t seem to stop himself from stepping in.
It sounds great and maybe it was just the shortness of the story, but I couldn’t find myself connecting with either character very well. It was all just too rushed along and everything just happened BANG BANG BANG…no anticipation gets to build.
The big secret that is causing Aidan so much stress? The reveal is so anti-climactic that I was just left standing there wondering what happened. The whole story had a monotone feel to it.
However, it did have a few good points. The writing was good and it flowed well, it just needed more to round it out. The characters were interesting and I would have like to have had the chance to get to know them better. It had a bad guy or two you’re gonna love to hate as well.
I have read other stories by this author and enjoyed them a lot so I will read more of her in the future.
