Welcome Piper!
Reunited and It Feels So Good. Maybe.
Hi, all! Thanks to Love Bytes for hosting me today on the final stop of my Hook, Line, & Sinker blog tour. It’s been a blast. Thanks to everyone who’s followed along with my posts. 🙂
My book, Hook, Line, & Sinker, just came out last week on the 19th from Dreamspinner Press. This book can stand all on its own, but it’s a spin-off of my release with Kade Boehme from earlier this year, Wood, Screws, & Nails. In that book, which featured a relationship between an older man and a much younger one, Blake was a secondary character. The premise for Blake’s book is a lot different. His story is about two similarly aged men reuniting as adults after being rivals in childhood and what happens after.
Blake and Cas hated each other when they were teenagers. Mostly. Underneath all of the animosity, there was attraction on both sides, though neither suspected it of the other, nor would they have ever admitted it. Now, nearly twenty years later, they meet again. No doubt a bit of tension lingers from the past. Neither one of them is sure what the other will be like. A couple of decades are practically a lifetime in terms of life experience. They’re not the same boys they used to be—and yet they are.
I thought it was an interesting dynamic to explore. I’ve wondered occasionally about people I knew in childhood. If we didn’t get along back then, would that hold true now? Would people I loved back then be people I couldn’t stand as adults? Hard to say without experiencing it firsthand. Admittedly, while some aspects of my personality remain the same, I’m nowhere near the same person I was in my pre-teen years. Times change, and people do too. So, I wondered how these two men, who were constantly competing against and trying to one-up each other during their teenage years, would interact now as adults.
I had a lot of fun exploring their relationship and bringing them together as a couple. Writing the story made me curious, though. Have any of you ended up in a relationship with someone you knew in childhood after meeting again as adults? Or do you know someone who has? Share the story! I’d be really interested in hearing it. 🙂

Blurb:
When they were teens, Castor McCormick was the bane of Blake Kowalski’s existence. Their mutual animosity led to summers filled with rivalry. Now, nearly two decades later, Cas is moving back into the neighborhood to live in his grandmother’s old house. Blake tells himself he isn’t interested in seeing how snarky little Cas grew up, but when his mother dupes him into visiting his former nemesis, he finds out “pretty” can evolve into “sexy as hell” on the right man.
Cas didn’t think he wanted to see Blake again. No one has ever pushed his buttons like the arrogant boy he remembers from their youth. Turns out, the adult version of Blake still gets him hot under the collar—and everywhere else. With Blake on leave from work to nurse an injured leg and Cas taking time to move and unpack, they form a tentative friendship that turns into a sexual affair neither man can deny. But when Cas’s job sends him out of state to deal with a difficult client, their new relationship will be tested, and if they fail, Blake’s broken leg might not be the only thing to end up scarred.

Piper Vaughn
Piper Vaughn wrote her first love story at eleven and never looked back. Since then, she’s known that writing in some form was exactly what she wanted to do. A reader at the core, Piper loves nothing more than getting lost in a great book—fantasy, young adult, romance, she loves them all (and has a two thousand book library to prove it!). She grew up in Chicago, in an ethnically diverse neighborhood, and loves to put faces and characters of every ethnicity in her stories, so her fictional worlds are as colorful as the real one. Above all, she believes that everyone needs a little true love in their life…even if it’s only in a book.

I had a major crush as a young teenage but it wasn’t returned. Many years later we ran into each other and went out – total bust.
I can’t wait to read your new book; loved the first one in this series and wonder if that couple will make an appearance in the new book.
Wonderful giveaway. Looks like a great book.
Added to my wish list!
Amazing giveaway from an amazing writer and blog!! Ty
Thank you so much for this terrific post and giveaway! 🙂
The book sounds great. Thanks for the giveaway!
Sadly I have not had any encounters or experiences like this. Although I did go to one school reunion, after much protest, and met a few adversaries who acted if I was once their best friend and as if the bullying they did never happened. My only other experience was a friend who met her first love at another school reunion, they eventually got married, and she seems much more happier and content with her first love..
Thank you for a wonderful giveaway.
