REVIEW:
I do not even know where to start with this review. I honestly do not know.
Was the writing bad? No. Was there a decent plot? Yes. Was there good character building? Yes. But, unfortunately even with that said, this story lacked so much.
Steven lives a boring existence. He goes to work and comes home. He barley has a social life so when a tall, dark handsome man appears at the doctor’s office where he works he’s smitten. James came to the doctor’s office to visit his brother who’s a doctor at the practice where Steven works. These two are immediately attracted to each other. The current between them is palpable so they decided to go out on a date.
Steven is very much attracted to James so when he wants to take their relationship to the physical level he’s perplexed that James puts on the brakes to anything physical. It becomes very obvious that James is hiding a secret, a BIG secret.
Steven and James spend more and more time together, getting closer and their love for each other grows every day. On the other hand, the physical aspect has still not happened and Steven gets more and more frustrated with James peculiar behavior. After an explosive fight the secret comes out. I have to admit I saw it coming from a mile away. I didn’t however expect Steven’s reaction.
Steven decides he needs some space but he’s in love with James so he’s willing to try and make it work.
In my opinion, this was too much drama to pack into a 42 page book. I wanted to see what life between James and Steven would be like as they navigate the minefield that is this incurable illness. I wanted to see James get his happily ever after because he deserved it after having been dealt such a horrible hand in life. But this book was way too short to allot for any of that which was so unfortunate because it had such potential. Furthermore, I felt we could have used some back story on Steven. We get a little insight into James but nothing on Steven which just added to how incomplete this story felt.
