BLURB:
Singer Coby Kennedy and his drummer twin, Bruce, have a band called Patchwork Heaven. They have been rising steadily up the country music charts, but unfortunately, that rise has attracted unwanted attention. Faced with anonymous letters, sinister gifts, and the wanton destruction of their personal space, they hire The Detail, a specialized security firm. Coby never anticipated Gregor, The Detail’s owner and his personal guard, would be quite so intriguing.
As the stalker gets closer and more violent and questions pile up, Gregor fears his past might get in the way of him finding who is threatening his client when he becomes suspect number one. Even though Coby is convinced Gregor is not behind the threat, Gregor is not sure he’s the right man to keep Coby safe, either from the stalker, or from his own interest in the singer
REVIEW:
This is about Coby and Bruce who are singers in Patchwork Heaven, a famous country music band. They are identical twins, with a strong connection with each other to the point the media even made odd comments about their relationship. But they are nothing but brothers who happen to experience each other’s strong mental, emotional or physical experiences. They are so similar yet different. Coby suffers from some sort of anxiety disorder as well as a neurological condition whereas Bruce is outgoing, protective and confident.
When he is happy, Coby’s neurological condition also helps him to be creative as a musician. Unfortunately it appears that he also has been stalked. His stalker appears when the band least expects him and appears to disappear without a trace until next time. During these traumatic events, Coby develops an intimate relationship with their bodyguard…This is where the story gets interesting as well as confusing for me. Coby is submissive and Gregor the bodyguard becomes dominant in their relationship. Gregor even tries to help Coby to manage his anxiety through mild, what I consider as BDSM activity, namely blindfolding him and dominating him. Gregor’s belief is Cody needs to face his fears so blindfolding him in the bed appears to help Coby…really? This part in the story was odd to get into it for me. It kind of spoiled their intimate scenes as well as making Gregor appear very arrogant in his belief of himself….but then Coby appeared to be a simpering male rather than anxious at times.
The story has a complex plot that appears to drag on at times. I thought that there was too much drama, angst and suspense. I felt that the characters somehow remained superficial rather than as deep as they should have been considering the twins were wounded heroes. I did not really like the D/S dynamics and that one humiliation scene attempt felt unnecessary, only crowding the story line and making Coby and Gregor appear too experimental considering they are at the beginning of their relationship, plus there is stalker out there who appears to want to kill Coby. I feel that too much drama interfered with the character development.
