Sometimes the best thing that can happen to someone
happens in the middle of a crisis.
Derick is running from his pack, his family. He has to, if he
wants to save innocent people. His Alpha is planning an
attack on the Whitedell Pride, and he can’t let it happen.
Sure, he knows he will probably have to pay a price for his
betrayal, but he is ready to do it. He hadn’t thought his price
would be a good one, until he finds his mate in the pride.
Nate is the pride’s Beta, and as Beta, he has to follow the
unspoken rules that exist in the shifter community. He
wasn’t looking for a mate, and he certainly didn’t think his
mate would be a wolf shifter. Not that he has anything
against wolf shifters, but this one brings way too many
problems with him.
Derick’s Alpha knows what he has done, and he plans to
make him pay. When Derick is kidnapped, Nate has to
decide if he wants to play by the rules and risk his mate, or if
he’s going to save Derick, risking a justified attack from the
REVIEW:
So here we are again, back amongst the “MINE” roaring shifters of the Whitedell Pride.
In this second book we’re introduced to Derick, a rather submissive wolf from a neighboring wolf pack as he races to alert the pride that his alpha intends to attack them unprovoked. Upon arrival at the pride’s mansion Derick is met by the pride alpha who unexpectedly treats him with kindness and believes his tale of the impending attack. The pride betas are called in for debriefing and Derick is shocked to discover that one of the feline shifters is his mate.
Nate was first introduced to readers in the first of the Whitedell Pride books, Jamie. He’s a jaguar shifter, a beta and the best tracker that the pride has. He recognizes Derick as his mate from the first moment he catches his scent and doesn’t hesitate to let the rest of the pride know just who Derick belongs to. Unfortunately for Nate, the road to his happily-ever-after cannot be that simple.
As with the first book of the series, while the feline shifter MC is literally roaring “mine” and all but pissing up his mate’s leg to mark his claim, the non-feline MC is not so quick to fall in line. Derick has lived beneath the harsh rule of his parents and his alpha his whole life. Now that he has escaped he isn’t keen to commit himself to a mate he doesn’t know. And I kind of like that about this series. The shifters who think they can simply call dibs on their mate and bam, they’re in a relationship are told – na ah, if you want me you’ve gotta make an effort and date me first.
I also like hearing about the pride itself, the way they all live together in a giant mansion under the rule of their strong but fair alpha. I love that they’re made up of random feline species and even some other animal shifters and humans are thrown into the mix because their pride doesn’t discriminate. I love that characters from previous books are around to pop up in future books. It’s pretty safe to say that after two books I’m hooked on this series and I’m so very glad that, at this stage at least, the author seems to be publishing monthly because the next one is due out in December.
Now, for my complaint. Why on earth is this book not entitled Keenan!? My poor favourite character Keenan was left with his romance in ashes at the end of the last book and I had figured that the second book would be his. But it’s not. And the title of the next book is Nolan. Again, what about Keenan! Ms Lievens, you are a tease!
I can’t wait to carry on reading this series and maybe the author will continue to answer those important shifter questions that I was unaware I really really want to know the answers to. Such as the one answered in this book – if a shifter gets a prince albert piercing in his human form, what happens when he shifts into a wolf?

I found this series looking for something else. I have enjoyed both the books. But I’m with you, what is going to happen with Keenan? So looking forward to book 3
I really hope all three men end up together Denise. I feel sorry for all of them and don’t want any to miss out 🙂 Plus I love a ménage!
