Bradley Zelder can’t find his way in life. After struggling for nearly a decade, he has yet to complete his college degree. Working as a school custodian, living in blue-collar Landsbury, MA, his love life is as empty as the rest of his existence. But on his way home after another disastrous date, his truck breaks down in upscale Oceanside. When he thinks life can’t get any worse, a man who is the epitome of Boston elite and everything Bradley finds attractive and intimidating helps him move his truck to the side of the road. Ashamed of his lot in life, Bradley almost lets the opportunity slip away, but he comes to his senses in time and tracks Caleb down.
From a random act of kindness, romance begins to grow, filling all the dark corners of Bradley’s empty life—until a random act of violence threatens to take it all away. Bradley must step up and be the man Caleb believes him to be. Caleb rescued him from a life without hope. Can Bradley rescue him in return?
REVIEW:
This story touched the core of my being. What was not there to keep me from feeling all emotional? Nothing at all! Mia Kerick’s Bradley Zelder is a young bisexual male, struggling to make something for himself despite feeling totally insecure, deep down. When he meets Caleb by pure chance, a sizzling man who appears to have everything that Bradley thought he did not have, it was only natural that Bradley was drawn to this handsome, educated and elegant widow.
But Bradley and Caleb are more than just lovable handsome males. They are decent, hardworking wounded heroes deep down.
Their story is more than a sensuous contemporary romance. Their story is about coming to terms with violence and prejudice through unconditional love. Their story is about how life can throw something totally unexpected that could shake anyone’s world and how one would deal with it.
Caleb and Bradley’s story is deeply emotional and feels very real so I couldn’t help myself but absorb myself in their world. I felt Bradley’s hurt insecurities as well as his determination. I felt Caleb’s passion and warmth. I ached for their trauma and how they stood together to deal with their traumatic event.
Random Acts is a wonderful story that has a beautiful balance between realism and romanticism. The characters are well established and complement each other as well as the plot. The plot is crafted with research, heart and imagination….it simply flowed all the way through.
One part in the story that I absolutely loved is how Bradley and Caleb met and got to know each other…that part is refreshing, empathic, heart warming as well as utterly romantic. I simply loved the fallibility of these two men.
