Hello! Lou Sylvre here with my monthly post on Love Bytes. This will be rather short and sweet, because I’m getting ready to head to Burbank, CA for a really-fun, GLBT-Q centered event known as Bent-con, and as usual I’m running behind. In fact it’s a good thing I’ve known about this for six months and have been earnestly getting ready for three weeks, or I never would have made it!
If you want to know about Bent-con, click the link in the paragraph above—and if you’re in the LA area, come on by and join in. This year, I’m part of an author group called Inkslingers. (We write dirty, sexy, queer books). Being part of something like this is a first for me, and it’s also the first time I’ve been so involved at a con. I’ll be a panelist, a moderator, a reader, and I’ll be selling books (I hope)! I’ve been spinning wheels and revving engines like crazy trying to cover all the bases for swag, and book stock, and preparation, and… oh, yeah, flights and hotel (minor considerations).
Yeah, I’m stressed.
But you know, this is some of the best stress I’ve had in years. As an author (or in any career), things seem to plod along until one day something happens that feels like a milestone, and for me, being part of Inkslingers is one of those happenings. I’ve been forced to get in gear and learn a lot of new things about the business of writing and more importantly, about the truly diverse and exceptional people I’ve met or come to know better along the way.
I have to get back to the grindstone (my poor nose!), but before I do I’ll leave you with this little thing that makes me squee. (Yes, I continue to squee at almost 60 years of age. Don’t judge.)
Inkslingers are Featured Guests at the con!
This bit is from their Featured Guests tab on the website, and if you go there you can click on each of our names and see what we’re doing at the con. I hope you will, and if you can, I hope you’ll see us there. I’ll be honest, I feel very happy to be among these fellow authors, and if past experience will tell, the con will be full of wonderful people from every corner of the GLBT-Q spectrum (including the non-Q ally!). Life is good!
I’ll be back next month! Thanks for reading, and thanks to Love Bytes for letting me jabber!
