When your past closes in, running isn’t always an option…
Phoenix, Inc., Book 1
The jobs Marcus Lowry works for at Phoenix, Inc. Investigations are quick and easy, and they don’t give him the nightmares his days as a CIA operative did. That is, until he gets involved in a case that grabs him by the throat and won’t let go.
Cole Jacobs left behind his old life as a rent boy to make a name for himself rebuilding high-end and vintage cars and bikes. But when a stalker threatens to kill him—and to hurt anyone who stands in his way—his past closes in on him, and he’s not sure where to turn.
The last thing Marcus wants to do is take on a charity case, and to say that he and Cole don’t see eye to eye at first is putting things mildly. But when the first attempt on Cole’s life nearly kills them both, Marcus realizes that Cole is in real danger, and Cole is forced to reveal everything. Almost everything. Because Cole’s deepest secrets could destroy them both.

REVIEW:
So, Let’s get this review started!! I was so excited to read a new book from SE Jakes and the storyline sounded GREAT!! I was so lucky to get the chance to review it and I’m so glad that I did!!
Cole Jacobs is this 23-year old young man who works as a mechanic. He’s young, hot and very sexy. He moves with a wonderful blend of grace and sensuality. He gets hit on ALL THE TIME!! Cole is tired, tired of who he was and of being alone. He’s so tired of the way that he views sex and he wants more for himself. Cole starts getting threatening notes left at his work station and luckily for him, Styx (Yuppers, Peeps…it’s that Styx!) sees him and offers to help him out. Cole is this really sweet guy who has lived a hard life. He’s so young and all that he’s gone through has really shaped him into this hard-shell, yet, he’s got this great heart. He’s fun, sarcastic and this blend of sexy heartthrob and a guy that carries his secrets close to his chest
Marcus Lowry is this man who has lived a hard life. Plagued by nightmares from his past job as an CIA operative as well as being hurt from a former lover, Marcus is the cynical, hard-nosed guy that you really want on your side. I liked that Marcus was honest in his faults. Marcus has had experiences that has colored his view of people and just how to trust again. Marcus is such a good man, he just doesn’t trust himself anymore. I think that’s one of his biggest issues, yet, somehow, he’s got to learn to trust again.
Ok, so let’s really get into the reason I’m LOVING this book!!! Styx, Law & Paulo!! Yes, Peeps…the Boys are back!! I couldn’t BELIEVE IT, when Styx showed up on the screen and then Law and Paulo, I squee’d so loudly on my commute, I think some of the other commuters thought I was having some sort of stroke!! We got to see the happenings of the story from their POV’s and it allowed the story to have more depth. The bad guy in this story….well, I liked how we got to see things from his POV as well. Obsession isn’t a good look on ANYONE, especially this guy.
Now, as we all know, SE Jakes does ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SEX SCENES and she didn’t skimp in this book!! Not only did we get to see the intimate moments of Marcus and Cole, but we got to see Styx, Law & Paulo!! Now, I’m sure that you’ve noticed that I’m really crushing on those three guys and I AM!!! But I really loved them in Bound by Law and to see them again, still this wonderful Triad and still so very much in love…just about made my heart burst.
This story had so much going on that I have to say that I was totally invested from the moment I opened this story until the very end. I’m so looking forward to any new books in this series. I know that SE has the most wonderful, complex characters that I always end up falling and rooting for. I can’t wait for the next installment in this series.
