TITLE: It’s Okay
SERIES: Scarcity Sanctuary #6
AUTHOR: AKM Miles
PUBLISHER: MLR Press
LENGTH: 164 Pages
BLURB:
Gom finds that just because it’s summer break doesn’t mean that his services aren’t needed in a very disturbing case involving a tortured young artist.
Gom Marsh is happy that it’s summer break and he can spend some time with Casey. But no, along comes Laurie with one of the most disturbing cases so far. This time a young artist in a summer school program is producing some extremely tortured drawings. Gom has to get in there to find out what is going on with Kade Godwin. If that’s not enough, there’s a teacher who is being cyber-bullied and has no idea who is doing it, and it’s got to be kept on the down-low to protect his reputation. But there’ a really good ending.
REVIEW:
I figure if you’re taking the time to read this review on Scarcity Sanctuary #6 then I don’t need to sell you on these books. You’ve probably read your way through the previous books and are just as excited as me to see that the series still has more to offer.
It’s Okay is fairly similar to For Gom’s Sake (#3) as once again Gom goes undercover at a school, this time into an art program, to investigate the case of what appears to be a very disturbed, perhaps suicidal teenager. It quickly becomes apparent that somebody is seriously abusing the quiet teen who expresses his pain through his shockingly morbid drawings.
This installment of the series is set not long after the ending of Trick’s Dante (#5), which means as well as being introduced to the new character of Kade, we see a lot of Mike too. Which I was rather excited about, because Mike is a little boy who was rescued and brought to live at Scarcity Sanctuary in the last book. He’s a pretty gifted artist, even though he’s only ten, so it’s natural that he’d be a big part of this story that focuses on a tormented teenager who speaks through his art.
There is no new romantic pairing in this story, well other than a background m/f romance between two characters that readers of previous Scarcity Sanctuary stories will recognize. Instead, with Gom as the main character, we see more of his relationship with Casey and of course all the old favourites are still around. As always with this series it doesn’t matter who the main characters are because all of the other characters become involved in some way. This series honestly is like a gay Brady Bunch and I say that with zero derision because I absolutely adore these books. Whenever I’m feeling the need for a “happy” book, and let’s face it, we all have books we turn to for cheering up, I know that any book from this series will leave me with a smile on my face. And I know it’s a big call, but I think It’s Okay is as good as Soldier, the first book in the series, which is also my definite favourite.
The blurb says there’s a really good ending? Oh. My. God. I cried a flood of happy tears so, yes. There is a really good ending. I promise all fans of this series that you are not going to want to miss this one!
Oh and one more thing – how adorable is the cover! Whoever did the cover art for this book did an awesome job of giving us Taco!

Yay, another book in the Scarcity Sanctuary series and one of my comfort reads is also Soldier, so beautiful. Thank you Donna for your review and for the tissue requirement warning, so a new box is to be bought pending reading the happy ending 😀
So pleased to hear that we have another Scarcity story at last and one that features Gom. My favourite book is also Soldier followed by For Gom’s Sake so it won’t be long before I’m settling down with a chilled glass of my favourite beverage and my newly purchased copy of It’s Okay to find out what the guys are up to now.
I hope you both love the book as much as I did. I was so excited when I found it on MLRs coming soon page
Yeah. Another Scarcity story. Haven’t read a new one in a while. If new characters are introduced means there probably will be more.to come.
Fingers crossed! Kade needs some love.
