REVIEW:
As we know from the previous stories in the series, Kane has been leading a double life. By day, he has been running a fitness center and by night, Kane runs a business that caters to an exclusive clientele who has been willing to pay to indulge their special interests and tastes. Unfortunately, his double life is not all great because his ex has been trying to ruin his escorting business.
On this third story in the series, Kane’s business remains troubled so he and his partners, who are also his friends, broaden their network and seek help. This is when David calls his buddy Nick Lopez to ask for help. Nick used to be an undercover major crimes cop and is a wounded hero with his own turmoil to deal with. This is when Nick meets Jace McClune who is a damaged man with little hope for his future due to his traumatic experiences as an undercover cop.
The suspense in this series is very gripping and intense. Things are no longer as they seemed. I found the plot enjoyably and engagingly complex.
The chemistry between Jace and Nick was instant and electrifying. The hurt they both carry deep in their heart left me sad and deeply touched. There are parts between these two that left me a bit tearful because of the level of despair they felt yet clinging on to their hopes to succeed and find unconditional positive regard. These two guys were perfect for each other because neither was a quitter. I loved how Nya made them loaded with insecurities yet gave a tiny yet strong sense of hope to keep trying….wow. What I also loved in this story is the level of drama and thriller. These parts made the series very intriguing but now, it is just engaging and captivating in all directions.
The characters remained solid throughout the series so I never find myself confused. The dialogue remained gritty, masculine and appropriate to the characters. The complex plot stays with me even after I have finished reading the books. All in all, the books in this series are very engaging, enjoyable, sensuous and thrilling.
I can’t wait to read the next story in the series.
