REVIEW: “Crocodylus Acutus” had a lot of potential to be a captivating M/M paranormal romance but somehow ended up being just an OK romance for me.
The synopsis was breath taking so I felt really excited that I finally found a paranormal romance story with a refreshingly different plot. My mind instantly went to this image where a were-croc was rushing to rescue a human male from other crocs…wow! I felt really tickled to no end with the image in my head that after rescuing the guy, this were-croc was taking him to his lair because he was a wounded hero who was all lonely. However after reading the story, I felt very disappointed because “Crocodylus Acutus” did not have enough sensuous moments and the way the human quickly accepted the were-croc was way too quick. I think it would have been very engaging for the reader if the human was a little shocked, scared and slowly came to terms with his discovery that the man he fell for was in fact a were-croc. It would have been even more captivating for the reader if the were-croc felt through some hoops to win the human. This story definitely needed more intense emotion and dialogue.
The characters felt superficial lacking depth in their personalities leaving the dialogue rather immature and predictable. I also think that this story needed to be a full length story or a novella to help the characters develop as much as they needed to be.
However, if you are looking for a very simple, pleasant and easy to read YA type of M/M romance then this one is for you.
