Book Name: Learning to Love: Final Exam
Author Name: K.C. Wells
Author Bio: Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C.Wells always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way.
K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, where the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings – writing about men in love was even hotter…
K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career.
The laptop still has no idea of what hit it… it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.

1) Could you tell the readers who aren’t familiar with this series what it is about ?
Learning to Love was about students sharing a house in Manchester. It started with Michael & Sean, both straight, who find they are attracted to each other. They explore their sexuality – with a little help from gay housemate Evan – but event turn a dark corner when homophobia rears its ugly head. The second book in the series deals with Evan and his deepening attraction to new housemate Daniel, who has a secret, one that he doesn’t want to reveal, for fear of killing his developing relationship with Evan. But Evan is exactly what Daniel needs – he just has to convince Daniel of that. In the third book, two new occupants, Chris and Josh, eventually manage to work out that they are meant to be together, although Josh has to go through a very painful, emotional experience before he realizes what he wants.
The final story brings us up to date with the three couples in their final year of studies, and there are three distinct plotlines running through the book – one which unites all the housemates and reinforces how strong their friendship has become.
2) Did you expect when you wrote the first book that it would turned into a series that was loved by many ?
I always joke that every time I receive an email via my website, it always has the same message: “What’s happening with Sean? Is he going to be okay? WHEN WILL THE LAST BOOK BE OUT?”
But no, I had no idea that readers would take my boys to their hearts. None of the books was ever a bestseller, but readers are still buying them, sometimes starting in the middle and then deciding that they want to read what happened earlier.
I think the last book of the series is the best. It’s certainly better written than the first three, but then I’d learned a lot in the intervening months since finishing Josh & Chris (#3)
3) If you need to name one character out of these boys who would be your favorite and why ?
Sigh – my Sean. Having said that, Evan would come a close second.
I love Sean’s sunny nature, his positive outlook on life. I love how he laughs and jokes with the others, but can also be there for them when they need a shoulder to lean on, or someone to advise them.
4) You write about very different subject in your books, is that something you are really looking for and want to maintain or do you have a favorite subject deep down that you would like to focus on ?
I like the idea of diversity. Until this summer, my books fell into one of two categories – Contemporary or BDSM. Waiting for a Prince looked at males who suffered from domestic abuse, but apart from that, I played safe. Then I decided I wanted to branch out a little, to flex my writing muscles, as it were. I started to write my first fantasy, which was also a threesome, with a dash of paranormal. Talk about departing from the norm…
Then I had an idea for a thriller. This one has me really excited and I can’t wait to start writing it. I now have plans for a MMMM novel, as well as a stand alone with a very sexy theme – a barman, Mike, who also works in the porn industry, is approached by a young man who wants Mike to be his first…
All change, as they say.
5) You mentioned that Final Exam is the final part in this series (to my own personal regret and others) still without giving too much away you leave the readers with some very interesting prospects at the end , could it be that there will be some kind of spin off ?
Readers haven’t seen the last of my boys. I have plans for two novellas, involving Josh & Chris’s wedding and Daniel & Evan’s developing BDSM relationship. And Evan might pop up in the Love Lessons Learned series 😉
6) When one of your books is finished do you ever pick up the published version and read it yourself ?
Oh yes! Every time.
7) What is coming from the hand of K.C Wells that readers and fans can look forward to ?
Well, I’ve already given you an idea in #4, but next from me is a contemporary novel, a romance between two young men who grew up in the same house when their parents moved in together. Except now they’re in love with each other, and one of them has a real hang-up about what people will think of them if they reveal how they feel about each other. After all, they’re going to be stepbrothers. Confetti, Cake & Confessions will be out toward the end of September.
Then it’s full steam ahead with Collars & Cuffs #6, Make Me Soar, which is the story of Dorian. (I swear I can hear people in a couple of different continents going “YAY!” Yeah, this one has been a while in coming 😉 )
It just remains for me to say thank you for having me here today 🙂
One house, three couples, and one year left until their final exams….
Evan and Daniel want to take their D/s relationship to the next level. When Daniel suggests conducting a little research at a BDSM club, Evan is more than up for it. Trouble is, one of their housemates isn’t happy about this.
Finances tighten for new couple Josh and Chris. Wanting to ease some of the pressure on Chris, Josh starts as an agency nurse. But tackling a heavy workload at medical school and working late-shifts leaves little time for the couple. Something’s gotta give.
In Spain, Sean was diagnosed as suffering from migraines. But after the medications have no effect and he starts suffering from other complaints, he decides to get a second opinion without telling Michael. When Michael finds out, Sean’s usually laid-back husband’s reaction shocks everyone. But Michael needs to get his head sorted fast, because Sean needs his strength.
As their school career comes to a close and the one person who holds them all together starts to fall apart, the final exam is a true test of friendship.
SEAN was getting really fed up with his housemates.
Ever since he and Michael had got back from Spain, the four men had turned into mother hens. Sean was constantly aware of them watching him. At least, it felt like they were. When he’d brought it up, Michael had said he was imagining things, but then again, Michael was guilty of the same thing in Sean’s book. He knew Michael was keeping a close eye on him. Sean hadn’t said a word. These days, he didn’t trust himself to do so without biting Michael’s head off, and that was the last thing he wanted to do.
Okay, so I’ve had a few migraines. Why the scrutiny all the time?
He loved his housemates to bits, but recently he’d found himself snapping at them on occasion, and that just wasn’t like him. He could see the same thought in Michael’s eyes and that hurt. He hated it when Michael worried, especially if he was the cause.
He wanted to scream at them all.
Look, I’m fine! It’s just a few fucking HEADACHES, that’s all!
He wouldn’t, of course, tempting though the idea was. And besides, there was that tiny voice in his head that wouldn’t go away.
What if it’s more than just headaches? What if there’s something else wrong?
At first he’d pushed the thought aside. He’d been to the doctors in Spain, hadn’t he? The doc had been perfectly happy with his diagnosis of migraines
Only now the headaches were occurring more regularly, which was worrisome. The fact that his bloody pills were useless wasn’t helping either.
Then DO something. Get another opinion.
Now that made sense.
Sean picked up his phone and scrolled through his contacts to the clinic where he and Michael got tested every few months.
The sooner he got this sorted, the happier he’d be. And maybe then his housemates would stop mothering him.
He listened for a moment. Michael was downstairs in the kitchen with Chris, Evan, and Daniel. Josh was at the hospital. If Michael knew he was making an appointment, he’d only worry even more.
So that meant only one course of action—Sean wasn’t going to tell him. He’d go see another doctor, see if there were any tests they could run, and maybe get some medication that actually worked. He glanced at the notice board where his and Michael’s timetables were pinned. Being on the same course had its drawbacks, especially if he wanted to book an appointment when Michael wouldn’t be around. The only time available was when Michael saw his personal tutor. At least the clinic was on campus, but he might have to book it a week or two in advance to be sure of getting the slot he wanted.
And if he were completely honest, Sean was starting to get concerned. He rarely got sick, he ate healthily—Michael made sure of that—he didn’t smoke, and his alcohol intake amounted to a couple of glasses of wine per week. So putting up with headaches was pissing him off.
Make the call, Sean. While Michael’s not in earshot.
Sighing, he pressed Connect.
