REVIEW:
This story was just the sweetest short story that I’ve read in a long time. These two guys are just so sweet and gentle with each other.
Cole is a young man who is going to college for music studies. Cole is also in a band that plays around campus. Cole has a secret known only to himself….he’s really attracted to swimmers. He goes to a coffee shop that’s near where the swimmer’s practice. Cole is gay and he’s known this for sometime. He doesn’t advertise that he’s gay, he just lives his life and does his best to learn as much as possible about music to become the best musician that he can be.
Seever is this really sweet guy who is actually on the swim team. He’s noticed Cole before and as luck would have it…he gets the opportunity to sit with him and get to know him a bit better. Seever, like Cole is gay and again…while not hiding, isn’t advertising either. Seever is just the sweetest guy. He really likes Cole. He’s got this wonderful need to love and be loved. He’s on a swimming scholarship and yet, he knows that he’s good, but he wants more for himself. He studies hard and he works really hard to keep up this build and strength for swimming. He’s got some great friends in his teammates and his coach.
This sweet story is told is such a short period of time and yet even just reading it, you can tell that these two young men are starting a base for relationship. They way that they are with each other is both sweet and tender and yet there is passion between them. I like how they are getting to know each other and they listen to each other. It’s really rather nice to see that even starting out…these guys they would like to be an “us”.
Now there was just a tiny bit of angst in this story. It wasn’t a lot, just enough to add a bit to the story. It didn’t feel forced or out of place. I would expect no less from Sara.
I know from reading my story in this anthology…you won’t go wrong reading the anthology. Some of the hottest writers together in one book…..Yeah!!
Run and get this book!! Sit back and enjoy the tales of young men falling in love!!
