Review:
Adam is trying really hard to move on and put his past behind him. School is almost done, there’s just this one little three week class he has to teach and a brush with his past to deal with.
Tyler knows exactly what he lost when he screwed things up with Adam and he can’t help but wonder if maybe…just maybe…he might have a chance to fix things.
I loved this story about two men who never really stopped loving each other but can’t seem to find a way back until fate throws them back together. The author drew me in with smart writing and heartbreaking descriptions of pain and loss along with a smidgeon of hope that grows throughout the story.
Falling in love in college is bound to be difficult, but when you have a Teacher/Student situation to deal with, it makes things even harder. Throw in a homophobic jerk determined to make things easy on himself at other peoples expense, and you have all the makings of an excellent story.
I love how the author doesn’t just throw Adam and Tyler into bed together, choosing instead to make a point that sex doesn’t always fix everything. Conversation and honestly are the things needed to help these guys find their way. But when the sex does come? It’s hot and sweet and perfectly on point.
The side characters are really just plot movers, as the shortness of the story really doesn’t allow for any of them to develop at all.
Usually short stories leave me craving more in a bad kind of way, but this story was as complete as it could get. Would I have liked to have had a chance to get to know the characters better? Definitely, but it didn’t take away from the story at all.
An excellent read and I will be looking for more from this author in the future.
