I am utterly thrilled to use my blog spot this month for a nobler purpose than my usual ramblings. Queer Romance Month is coming in October, and the build-up starts now!
What is Queer Romance Month, you ask? Well, the clue’s in the name. This is an online event for a full month, celebrating all aspects of queer romance, and involving writers, readers, bloggers, publishers, designers. We will have three or four blog posts a day, from some of your all-time favourite writers as well as authors who will probably be new to you. It’s to feature all colours of the rainbow, not just m/m, and involve het romance writers as well as queer, talking about as many aspects of queer romance as we can wedge in to a single month.
Our guiding principle is very simple: ‘Love is love’. We believe that queer romance is wonderful, that stories are important, that everyone deserves a happy ending. We hope to bring queer romance of all types to a new and wider audience. We want to talk about how many great books and writers of queer romance there are out there. And we believe that queer romance deserves to be put front and centre.
Come and have a look at www.queerromancemonth.com (there are a couple of posts up already explaining more of what we’re doing), or follow on Twitter @queerromance to keep abreast of what’s going on. If you’re an author who’d like to participate, a blogger who wants to be involved, a brilliant human being who’d like to help with the logistics (ahem), or you just want to show your support by displaying a badge, please do get in touch at http://www.queerromancemonth.com/get-involved/. Or just drop by in October when it all kicks off.
I’m really thrilled to be part of the QRM team, celebrating the books we love and the love that deserves books, and I hope to see you there as part of the party.
