SERIES: Conduct Unbecoming #2
AUTHOR: L.A. Witt
PUBLISHER: Samhain Publishing, Ltd.
LENGTH: 216 pages
BLURB: A chance encounter, a chance at love…and one heartbreaking choice.
A Conduct Unbecoming sequel.
Ensign Aiden Lange is taking a hike—and it’s not for the pleasure of seeing Okinawa’s Hiji Falls. It’s in the hope that claiming he took a fall on the rocks will cover up the fact he was beaten up in a gay bar. Not a place a Naval Academy grad wants to get caught if he’s serious about his career.
At the end of the trail, a surprise comes with the scenery. A gorgeous young guy in swim trunks.
Connor didn’t come up to the falls to find a man, but he’s instantly intrigued by the ensign with the bandaged eyebrow. A hike turns into dinner, and before he knows it, he’s up to his heart in love with the gentle, infinitely patient Aiden.
It’s a small world, though, and an even smaller island. It’s only a matter of time before they’re caught by a man who’s more than just Connor’s overprotective father. He’s also Aiden’s high-ranking boss. Someone with the power to force Aiden to choose—Connor, or his naval career.
REVIEW:
This was such a sweet little romance. These two young guys are just so cute together and how they fell in love was just sweet.
Ensign Aiden Lange is just the cutest little thing to me. He’s a good looking young man who wants to have a long career in the military, the Navy to be exact. Hell this guy even went to Annapolis, which is just code for the United States Naval Academy. A very big deal!!! So, he knows that he’s got to put in his time and work his way up. He’s not worried about that, what he’s worried about is the questions he’s gonna have to answer after getting attacked after meeting a Marine in a bar. Aiden meets up with this guy who is just about the most beautiful thing in the world to him and even though this isn’t what he planned on, falling in love. Aiden is taken on the ride of his young life when he meets Connor.
Connor Bradshaw is this young man who is living with his father, General Bradshaw and going to school in Okinawa. He’s 20 years old and still living with his father so that he can go to school without the debt of college hanging over his head. His father wants him to concentrate on school and not worry about dating anyone, yet, the only Americans around are in the military and his father forbids that. Connor is a sweet kid, who spends lots of time on his own around the island. Connor is just this sweet young guy who would like to meet someone to spend some time with. Connor is tired of the threats his father uses to keep him in line and he just wants to be seen as the young adult that he is.
This was a cute, sweet romance between two young men who happen to meet and fall in love. These guys go through so much just to be together, the hiding and lying. I get where the General is coming from, the careers that could be hurt, however, it sucks to keep throwing out threats to your child regarding his education. How is Connor supposed to learn interpersonal relationships if he’s not allowed to have any? You can’t keep someone from growing up if they are of age and want something so bad, as the General learned.
I have to say that the sexy times in this book were really sweet and very intimate. I really liked that Aiden was so gentle and so very patient with Connor as this was his first real relationship. They spent a significant amount of time just hanging out and getting to know each other. I like that the times that they were intimate were tender and sweet. I will say that the beach scene and the application of sunscreen was really rather hot and steamy.
This was such a sweet story that you’ll really enjoy watching these two guys make their mistakes and yet, come back together. They are such a cute couple and it was a pleasure to watch them go from just hanging out to falling in love.
You won’t be disappointed with this tender love story at all. Sit back and have a bit of tender romance work its way into your heart.
