REVIEW:
Timber Pack Chronicles #2, Enforcer, picks up the story almost at the same point the first story ended. Jed, who was injured while protecting his Alpha’s mate in the previous book, is recovering from his stab wound but what concerns him more than his slow healing injury is the lack of sex drive he also seems to be suffering with. Actually, lack of sex drive is a gentle way to say that man-whore Jed has suddenly found himself completely impotent. The doctor has assured him that it’s just a side effect of the silver poisoning, but still. No horny teenager ever wants to have to deal with that little problem.
But despite having to cope with a bit of involuntary chastity, Jed is still the strong, proud Enforcer of the newly formed Timber Pack and nothing will keep him from accompanying his Alpha, his Alpha’s mate and his Beta to this years conclave – a meeting of all the North American packs held in Canada. While attending the first gathering of the conclave Jed finds himself unexpectedly and oh so thankfully aroused by the most amazing smell he’s ever, well, smelled. Following his nose he discovers the person he previously had no desire to unearth, his mate.
Buzz is one of the Betas of the large, dangerous and very traditional Tahoe Pack. He’s not much of a Beta, he leans more towards submissive than badass, but when your brother is one nasty, murderous, crazy mofo of an Alpha, and he makes you a Beta, well then there isn’t much room for argument. Not if you want to live. Having recently killed the old Alpha of a neighboring pack, psycho big brother has arranged for Buzz to marry the dead Alpha’s daughter to strengthen his hold over the new pack of wolves. Buzz has no choice, not if he wants to live. But poor Buzz is intimidated by Shauna, his intended bride, not to mention he’s gay. Although, he can’t actually tell his brother that. Not if he wants to live. You see Buzz’s problem here right? Unless he does everything exactly the way his brother, and his bride-to-be, instruct he’s going to be one dead wolf. At the very least he’s going to be in a hell of a lot of pain. So finding his very male mate is not something he knows how to deal with.
I have quite a fondness for this series. It has a bit of a YA feel to it despite the explicit sex and the gory killings. Obviously with the explicit sex and gory killings it’s in no way classified as YA but the characters and storylines would make for the sort of tv series that I would have been obsessed with in high-school. I guess it also seems a bit uncommon to have the main characters and most of the secondary characters still be in high school while the story is not aimed at young adults. Although, in this second book the characters have graduated.
Before starting the second book I purchased and read the first book and I’m glad that I did. While this book could stand alone, it has different main characters, it is basically a continuation of the first story. It just switches MCs. You will definitely enjoy this book much more and have a better understanding of the pack dynamics if you start from the beginning. That being said, I loved and adored Colton and Parker from the first book and found Jed and Buzz were a bit of a let down. They are less intense, less interesting and they felt less in love. There was the usual wolf mate insta-love which, to be honest, I don’t have a problem with but I just felt that this relationship relied on it too much. I spent this second book hanging out for the parts with Parker and Colton instead of just enjoying Jed and Buzz. But if you are a fan of the first book you’ll definitely enjoy the way the pack’s story progresses here.
There was a little more action in Enforcer. The Hunters who I believe were very briefly mentioned in the first story finally make an appearance and a few different packs are brought to our attention. One new Alpha in particular will surely be starring in the next book. Well, hopefully, cause I’m sort of hanging out for Zef and Miller now.
The ending definitely had an anticlimactic feel to it when it comes to Buzz’s former pack but then again, I felt the same at the end of the first book in relation to what Parker’s Dad was up to. I’m assuming that we’ll be seeing more of the Tahoe pack pop up in later books.
So overall? Enforcer was good but not great. However as a continuation of what I believe is an awesome series, this book is definitely worth a read.

Normally I don’t even read reviews and certainly never books that have cartoon style covers (I know they have prof. names, I just forgot what it is, Amni? )
But I’ve been searching for a really good shifter bk so I broke my own rule. And this sounded promising until u mentioned the high school thing…. eewwww! Way too much pedo ick factor for me, sorry.
I promise it’s not creepy Andrea 🙂
The youngest is seventeen but there’s no hankypanky till he’s eighteen and I think the other guy is maybe nineteen? Well that’s the first book. In this one both guys are a couple years older.
