Dear Author,
Ten years ago, I turned him down.
One night stands were his norm, and not because he couldn’t have had a relationship if he’d wanted one. He could pretty much have any man he wanted. I walked away because I deserved better.
Now our paths have crossed again. He has the world at his feet. It’s a tempting thought to throw away my lifetime of ideals for a single night with him.
Do I still have the strength to walk away?
Do I even want to?
Take the story where you want it to go.
My only request is for a contemporary story with a HEA.
Thank you!

So, first thoughts after finishing this: GAHHHHHH, Squeeeeee, wow, what the fuck that made me so HAPPY, I need MOAR from this author.
OK, this is why I love these events because it lets me read a ton of new-to-me authors and Vanessa North, while I knew of her, I had not yet read any of her work. This story was EXACTLY what I needed right now. I’ve been in a book funk lately and I’ve been telling friends I just need something sweet and hot and swoon-worthy. Something to give me a big, stupid grin and something that makes me excited to pimp to my friends.
I LOVE second chances book, unrequited love stories, dirty talk, and that tease of knowing something really great is coming. Also guys who wouldn’t commit and then find their true love make me sigh too. Nick and Kevin have been friends ever since they started playing soccer together in college. Nick has been in love with Kevin for years, and on the night before graduation, and the change of each moving away, momentarily gives in to Kevin’s charms. The thrill that they guy he loves and wants might just want him too. But Nick realizes that Kevin only does one night stands, and he would hate himself if he gave in like that only to be left unsatisfied and alone. So he walks away.
Flash-forward ten years and a chance encounter slowly starts to rebuild their friendship. Amidst this is continuous playful flirting from Kevin with more and more situations that have Nick’s walls crumbling. Seriously that dance scene was HOT. And finally he gives in and when he does…so perfect. It was hot and beautiful and it felt real.
And everything after that felt genuine too. I understand Kevin’s reactions and I believe in him and his intentions.
Bottom line I’m so happy. I found a FREE read that was hot, sweet and romantic, and I found a new author I’m looking forward to reading more of her work. Go read it now!
