BLURB:
The head of Global Pictures Studios, Vincent Franklin, promised Jack Stone that he would take care of Jack’s loyal driver, Juan. But for a dominant man like Vincent, Juan’s natural submissiveness causes him to long for much more from the shy young man.
Juan is devastated when his only friend, film star Jack Stone, leaves Hollywood for good. Lonely most of his life, the shy young man has dreamt of love, only to have his heart broken repeatedly. Before he left, Jack made certain that Juan would be taken care of by asking his ex-boss, studio chief Vincent Franklin, to hire him on.
Vincent Franklin is an incredibly controlled and meticulous man. Not given to emotional outbursts and unnecessary flights of fancy, his temperament is ideal for the stressful and demanding job as head of Global Pictures Studio. He leads a carefully concealed private life, his only social outlet being the sadomasochism club to which he belongs. When Jack introduces him to his handsome chauffeur Juan, he is struck by how naturally submissive Juan is. He wonders…
Soon, Juan is falling for the elegant, older man that is his new boss. He’s also thrilled when Vincent asks him to be his personal valet. But there are things that Vincent demands of a lover that Juan knows nothing about. Things that could make him run away from the man who would do anything to protect and care for him.
Reader Advisory: This book contains strong elements of BDSM.
REVIEW:
I saw the blurb for this book I was pretty intrigued. I liked the idea of an older, successful man who takes a younger man as his lover and more than that, as his submissive. I saw this this book was part of a series that I’ve not read before and I wanted to see if that would impact my enjoyment of the story and it didn’t. At All.
Vincent Franklin is a 42 years old man who runs Global Picture Studios. He’s successful, powerful, smart, sexy, and he’s a Dom. Vincent has to be so strong in his job. He has to do what is right for the Studio and also the actors/actresses in his care. He has been searching for the perfect submissive. He’s got the club that he goes to, but it’s not doing anything for him any longer. It’s not the same as having that perfect submissive made just for him. With having such a stressful job and not having someone who can be his calm, his center it seems as if he’s just going through life. But his life is about to change for the better.
Juan had come from Mexico years ago after his father found out that he was gay and beat him and then disowned him. He fell into a relationship with an Roman, an actor. When Roman threw him over, he begged Roman to keep him on as his driver. He met Jack through is relationship with Roman and when Jack left, he took Juan with him. Juan loved Jack and wanted to help him in any way that he could. Juan has always wanted someone who would love him and only him. He wants to please that person by doing things that make them happy. Juan is this really sensitive, tenderhearted young man of 23 years old. He’s so very sweet, young and naïve. He falls in what he thinks is love so easily, however, it’s not really that, it’s more the fact that by doing things that make someone happy, he feels that there is a connection or bond.
The secondary characters in this book were such wonderful characters. Saul is one of Vincent’s oldest friends and who helped him get involved in the scene. He was the older, wiser person that Vincent could talk to when he needed advice. That would help him work through any problem that arose. Jack and Nick, well, mostly Jack was such a blessing for Juan. Juan really didn’t have any friends and Jack became the only friend that he had. He went to Jack whenever he needed to talk or get away. Jack allowed Juan to talk or not talk to him as needed. But he always let Juan know that he was there for him and that he cared. Now, not all the characters were good for our MC’s, but they added exactly the right amount of chaos and havoc that they were meant to.
This was a really sweet story in my opinion. To have such a sweet and naïve character who needed someone to love and take care of and to have his exact match that needed the love and have someone to take care of him. It was sweet to watch to watch these two fall for each other and see how they wouldn’t take the steps to tell each other what they were feeling. These two guys were so made for each other and the author really made that clear in the way she wrote each character. Vincent, who is so filled with love and the need to dominate and take care of his tailor perfect submissive. Juan, who is a natural submissive, that needed someone to take control and to also allow him to take care of him. These two both were what the other needed and wanted and it was great to see them get their HEA.
I really enjoyed these two characters. I like that they really were just so perfect for each other. I liked that even though this story was set in the 20’s, there were men who loved and even if the way that they loved was seen as perverted, they did what made them happy.
