Blurb(s): Only a select few in the human world knew of the existence of the V-Unit, a small group of highly trained Marines – who happened to be vampires. And it would have stayed that way. But when events in the vampire world, threatened the stability of the human world, the powers that be called for the unit’s specialized services.
An intrepid war correspondent, Bronson Rudan, who’d seen more than his fair share of fighting, stumbles across the unit by accident, and is drawn into their world. Bronson has no problem with that, given that he gets to spend time with a hunky Marine Lieutenant, Sarge. Although he won’t remember any of this when they’re through.
At least, that was the plan…
Max stopped over to answer a few questions for us 🙂
– Can you tell us something about yourself and your writing?
I’m a retired Chef, who worked in the food and hospitality industry for over 30 years. When I was forced to retire I took up writing. I never expected to have a second career.
As for my writing, it is a constant learning process. I’ve heard that my books are character driven. That is very true. They, the characters actually write the books.
– What is it that makes you explore totally different genres in writing?
This is where it gets tricky. I do not purposefully jump genres. It just happens. Again, it is all about the characters, not so much the story. It is their story and I’m just here to write it for them.
– What made you write about Vampires or better how did you come to write The V Unit?
I had just started writing. I wasn’t very good at it at all. The friend who actually got me started wanted me to do this thing called a NaNo challenge. Basically it is scheduled a few times a year and the challenge is to write a book in thirty days. This was in October, 2012. The start date came and I still had no idea of what to write about.
I had said that I would never write a vampire story. I figured after Interview With a Vampire, there was nothing that could compare. She double-dog-dared me to do a vampire story, so I did. I started a week late and finished the body of the work in three weeks with a day to spare on the challenge.
– What would be a perfect day in the life of Max Vos?
That could change from day to day. Today, I would really enjoy working in my yard. I love gardening. The cherry on top would be a big hunky, hairy man who would bring me water, make my lunch, and then rub my shoulders when done. How’s that work for ya?
– Is there more coming from Max Vos either in the v unit universe or something else or both?
I currently have five works in progress started. I never like to talk about what I have coming up because one maybe sidetracked or delayed. Trust me, I’ll be busy the rest of this year and then some.
