Active on the Queer Student Council, Peter Cohen wishes he wasn’t so damn hot for his straight neighbor. He can’t tell if Chris is flirting or in denial or what, but Chris’s innocent overtures lure Peter into flirtation that throws his world into chaos. Peter doesn’t want to date a closet case, but he desperately, passionately wants Chris.
Soon Chris must choose whether to run away from his new feelings or embrace a relationship with the guy he loves. And Peter must decide if he can give his heart to a guy who hasn’t yet figured it all out
REVIEW:
College Boys is a sweet cute story about attraction to the same sex, experiencing love and first time sex.
We meet Chris when he moves into a new dorm room at the college he is attending, looking for space and his own place after having roomed with his two best friends. There he meets his neighbour openly gay Peter.
Through the ridiculously thin walls of their rooms, he can literally hear everything that Peter does in the privacy of his room. Much to his own surprise this spikes his interest. He doesn’t understand why but he feels a pull towards Peter because he’s straight, right?
But in the meantime he likes to listen to Peter through the walls at night when he thinks he’s alone in the privacy of his own room, not knowing Chris is listening.
It is a joy to read the way both boys move towards each other as they test the grounds, so to speak.
It made me smile 🙂
It is lovely to see how they form a friendship, getting more and more excited and eager.
Miss Harris finds a way to have a much used plot feel new and different, focussing on emotional issues combined with very hot sexual interactions, while avoiding certain stereotypes, and it comes over as very refreshing.
There is a very low angst level in this story which is nice for a change, although Miss Harris makes sure to take us with her into Chris fears and insecurities.
Some more critical notes would be that there is not quite enough background information known about the boys, especially on Peter’s part and the end feels like it comes way too fast without spoiling too much. I would have appreciated seeing a bit more grown towards each other before that.
I do want to say I really liked this story and was pleasantly surprised to find out this was the start of a series involving this college’s men.
I for one will make sure to read the rest of this series and definitely hope to read how Chris’s former roommates, Nathan & Greg walk through college.
