SERIES: Tales of the Harker Pack: Book Two
AUTHOR: Tara Lain
PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press
LENGTH: 234 pages
BLURB:
Socialite Lindsey Vanessen wants someone to love who will love him back—an impossibility for a gay, half-human, half-werewolf. Too aggressive for humans, too gay for wolves, and needing to protect the pack from human discovery, Lindsey tries to content himself with life as a successful businessman. But when someone starts kidnapping members of wealthy families, Lindsey meets tough cop Seth Zakowsy—the hunky embodiment of everything Lindsey wants but can’t have.
Seth has never been attracted to flamboyant men. What would the guys in the department think of Lindsey? But intrigue turns to lust when he discovers Lindsey’s biting, snarling passion more than matches his dominant side. It might mean a chance at love for a cop in black leather and a wolf in Gucci loafers.
REVIEW: I read the first book in this series and I LOVED it!! I thought it had some really amazing points and the story flowed smoothly. So, when I saw that the second book was coming out, you know I jumped at the chance to read it. I’m so glad that I did.
Lindsey Vanessen is this handsome, rich, young man who we met in the first book, Pack or Panther. Lindsey has ALWAYS been who he was. He’s known since he was young that he was gay. He’s more the flamboyant type of guy, but don’t let that fool you. Lindsey is more than what he seems. He’s really loyal and kind and giving and he’s got so much love in his heart. He does things not just because he can, but because it’s right. I loved Lindsey in the first book and I love him even more now. Lindsey is half human and half wolf-shifter. He’s not enough for either side, however, what most don’t know about Lindsey is that he’s got a much darker side that he hides from everyone.
Seth Zakowsy is the cop who meets Lindsey in the process of helping one of the kidnapped victim’s parents. Seth is this guy who is also like Lindsey, kind, loving and giving. He’s also an Alpha Man who has this nice kink that he doesn’t mind a more dominant guy forcing him to bend to his will. Seth struggled with keeping his orientation secret as a young man. He’s not out at work, but he won’t deny it if asked. Seth is walking into a world that he makes him feel so out of place. However, he’s got more than one good reason to be there.
The secondary characters in this book are great. I love Lindsey’s family. They are nothing but the most supportive family that a guy could possibly have. There was NOTHING and I do mean NOTHING that they didn’t or wouldn’t do for Lindsey. They gave lots of love and advice when needed and yet, they also let Lindsey make his own choices. The very best kind of family to have. Cole and Paris made a couple of brief appearances in the book and it was good to see them again.
This story flowed very smoothly and there was never a moment where you were jarred out of the story. You just started reading and got caught up. I hated that I actually had to do some work as it took me away from reading this story. There were some nice sexy, dominant, growly, rough smexy times!! It was HOT!!! Be Prepared!!
I will say that this is a great book. It was so good that even if you didn’t read the first book, you wouldn’t be lost at all. It was a great standalone book even being part of a series. I still would say to read the first book because it was so good and you get to meet Lindsey as a secondary character and fall for him then and even more now.
