Castor Kovalenko, socialite and high ranking member of the Dragon Triad, is worried about his cousin, Lynx. He’s been missing for weeks and there have been rumors circling the city, rumors that he’s been taken hostage by the hacker thief Yoru Katana. Castor needs to find his cousin before it’s too late. He’s willing to do nearly anything to bring Lynx to safety.
Jaffa Sharp is trying to stay alive. It’s not easy when the only thing you’ve ever learned to do is steal. Even harder when he keeps running into one annoying Dragon prince who keeps trying to get him arrested.
When Castor uses Jaffa to get to his cousin and the thief Katana, they both learn that nothing is as it seemed, including Lynx and Katana himself. Castor and Jaffa soon become involved in a plot to take the city back from the villainous triads. They find themselves fighting the people they thought were their leaders — and fighting an attraction stronger than either of them have felt before. Nothing is certain in the precarious new world they find themselves in: Life, death, friend, enemy, and the most uncertain thing of all…love
Hi! This is MJ O’Shea here to talk about the Characters in my newest book Rising Sun. Rising Sun is the sequel to 2011’s Dark Sun, which featured a large cast of villains, thieves, mobster types, and our little band of heros. I’ve added a few new characters to Rising Sun as well as bringing back some of the old ones!
** this will have slight Dark Sun spoilers, but nothing you don’t find out in the first chapter of that book! **
First we have our two main characters—
Jaffa Sharp is a pickpocket. He’s been on the street his whole life and recently has been taking care of two younger girls who’ve lost their parents. His whole life is keeping himself and Arlis and Binny alive.
Castor Kovalenko is a cousin in one of the two most powerful families in the city. He’s not heir to the Dragon Triad fortune so he and his twin brother have made their living dealing drugs and providing entertainment to the upper crust as well as training to be assassins and fixers for their uncle.
And of course there are the two heroes from Dark Sun back again —
Lynx Kovalenko was once a spoiled prince and younger son of the high powered Dragon Triad. One night in the underbelly of the city and the arms of a mysterious young man showed him a whole new world. He joined the man he thought was Katana the thief only to find out nothing was as he thought. Now he fights alongside Katana, or Orion, to bring their parents to justice.
Orion Leonias aka Katana the thief is the only son of the Phoenix Triad, and was poised to inherit the entire empire. He chose instead to help fix the city that his family and others like it ruined.
Then we have our cast of Supporting Characters —
Pollux Kovalenko is Castor’s twin brother. He’s easygoing where Castor is wound tight, but don’t be too relaxed around him. He can be just as much trouble as Castor!
Cassiopeia Leonias is Orion’s younger sister. She’s been stuck in the Phoenix compound most of her life and sheltered but she’s a lot smarter than people give her credit for.
Leo Kovalenko is Lynx’s older brother and heir to the Dragon empire. He’s toed the line his whole life and doesn’t trust his twin cousins Castor and Pollux very much at all.
Arlis and Binny are the two girls Jaffa found on the street and has been taking care of. They’ve both been trained to be good thieves and are quick on their feet and very loyal to Jaffa. They once were middle class citizens with parents and a home until their parents disappeared without a trace.
Seth and Vela have worked loyally for Orion since the beginning. Seth is tactical and good with weapons, Vela is a technical whiz who can make pretty much any computerized system do her bidding.
Pavo was once Orion’s loyal sidekick. He betrayed him in the past but might make another appearance.
The Dragons and The Phoenixes are the two most powerful triads (crime families) in New Seattle. They control the city government, the police, and rule over the small triads and the rest of the citizens in more ways than most people in the city know.
That’s (mostly) it! There is a lot of fun stuff going on in these two novellas. They’re quite different than my usual books but I hope you give them a try and let me know what you think!
xoxo

BIO: I’m Mj O’Shea, author of erotic romance–well all sorts of romance actually, that’s just what’s been published so far!
I grew up, and still live, in sunny Washington state and while I love to visit other places, I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home.
I spent my childhood writing stories. Sometime in my early teens, the stories turned to romance. Most of those were about me, my friends, and our favorite tv stars. Hopefully, I’ve come a long way since then…
Right now, I have four books published through Republica Press (click on the link to visit their site), but I’m constantly working on new projects.
When I’m not writing, I love to play the piano and cook and paint pictures…and of course read. It’s nearly impossible to work on my own writing when I’ve gotten myself hooked into a great new book:) I like sparkly girly girl things, own at least twenty different colored headbands, and I have a little white dog with a ginger eye spot who sits with me when I write. Sometimes she comes up with ideas for me too…when she’s not napping.
