TITLE: The Care and Feeding of Sex Demons
SERIES: Sex Demon 101 #1
AUTHOR: Angela Fiddler
PUBLISHER: Loose Id
LENGTH: 181 pages
BLURB: Keeping a sex demon happy and well fucked is always the safest option, even if you have your own relationship issues. When saving the world on a regular basis, a happy home is very important.
Cy’s job as an apocalypse stopper isn’t an easy one at the best of times, but with the help of his weird family, he survives. Sure, he sneaks out every once and a while to watch August his sex demon feed, but he loves and is committed to Patrick, his fae prince lover, even if it means giving up the anal penetrative sex he loves and Patrick has issues with.
All adult relationships are based on compromise. It’s just that most don’t require fucking a sex demon to keep him alive and non-murder-y at the same time as you’re trying to quit your job to save the world on your own time.
REVIEW:
So, I saw the blurb for this book and thought, “Self, this books sounds so interesting and different from what we normally read, we shall try something new.” I did try it and found that it was something.
Let’s start with Cy. He’s this apocalypse stopper and he’s pretty darn good at his job. He’s a good man. He’s kind, loyal and does what he feels is right. I will say that I do like that about him. He’s been in this job for about 20 years. He’s good at what he does, even with a boss who keeps trying to kill him.
Cy’s been in a relationship with Patrick for 5 years and he loves Patrick. Patrick loves him too. I’m just not really sure why they love each other. Or how that happened. The things that Patrick has done, I’m pretty sure that I’d have kicked him in the ass.
Patrick is this Fae Prince who’s trying to keep Cy with him. Minus the sex demon. He’s insecure in his relationship with Cy because of his job and August, the sex demon. I’m not really sure what he does for a living. But I know that he’s very powerful and that someone is trying to knock him off. I will say that Patrick is very tricky and he keeps surviving.
August, the sex demon in this weird family is the only one that I really liked. He at least was honest in his wants and needs. He has this loyalty that was unparalleled. He would do anything that needed to be done to protect those that he cares about . I actually got his point of view. He was the only who was completely honest in this whole story.
I was so confused throughout this whole book. Why would you stay with someone who drugs you? Who makes deals that you don’t know about? Who may or may not trust you? I didn’t get any of it. There was no real explanation regarding who these characters were. This story just seemed so disjointed. You would assume that being that the title had sex in the title you’d at least get some, not so much. It was mostly very glossed over.
I tried to really like this book. The premise was so good and I thought that there would be some good stuff happening, instead, it was just this big ‘ol mess that didn’t get any better as the story went on. I felt that premise was really good, it was just the execution was not that great.
