BLURB: Miles Piekus thought he and Itai would make a great team, despite the infidelities haunting their past. After all, Itai is smoking hot, they’re both driven entrepreneurs, and they love each other. What else did a person need?
Well, a lot more, apparently, because not only are they no longer passionate, they don’t even share the same passions. Like people, affections change, and Miles wonders if a relationship this broken is truly worth repairing.
Itai’s business launch with his ex-boyfriend isn’t helping. And Miles himself has a new business to grow over a busy few weeks where Thanksgiving and Hanukkah collide to form either the best holiday season ever, or a kosher caterer’s worst nightmare.
But help comes in the unexpected, ruggedly handsome form of Detective Dominic Delbene, a pickle aficionado with his own ghosts, who stakes out the deli to capture a dangerous drug dealer. As Hanukkah’s eight days come to an end, Miles discovers that Nic is not only good with pickling; he’s good at everything.
REVIEW:
Last week I’ve been needing a book about Chefs as the main character. I don’t know why but I had the sudden impulse to read MM romance about it. Maybe because having a culinary skill adds to the hotness of the main character. You can just sit there in the kitchen and watch him cook. And if you love that? You’ll love this one.
Miles inherited the family business, expanded it and turned it into a deli. He loves running it. The kitchen is his solace, relaxing him and taking his mind off things. But with the Thanksgiving and Hanukkah nearing, he needs Itai’s help, after all they agreed to run the business together. But Itai is also running his business with his ex which didn’t help Miles’ thought of the past infidelity.
This is a good read. Not really what I was expecting but not disappointing. This book is relaxing and would take your mind off things and just make you concentrate on the story.I’m new to Ms. Amara’s books but ones that I’ve read so far including this just radiant domesticity and good vibes. It would just make you feel homey.
I knew after reading the blurb that I would hate Itai in this book and I’m a little annoyed with his so much exposure in this. Miles and Itai’s relationship is pretty doomed from the start. I mean after reading the first chapter, I already felt it. Passionless. I’m not rooting for him anyway. I got more engaged in the book when Nic entered the scene. A cop who loves to took? Marry me! The sexy kitchen banters really plastered a smile on my face.
I also enjoyed the pace of this one. Not too dragged out and not too rushed. Just the right pace for you to enjoy the story. Throughout the book I keep on waiting for Itai to make the wrong move and for Miles to take action. It made my heart pound. And Itai, you cheater! You got what you deserved.
I read almost anything even the book can be depressing but every once in a while I would need just this kind of book. It’s not too long to get bored and not too short for this to feel like rushed. Just the right length for me. You’ll just enjoy the pace till you realize that you’re almost finish. I’m having a post-holiday rush.
