But before he leaves, Burgess invites him to a Valentine’s Day dance, where Cupid may have other plans for them both!
REVIEW:
I’m in a middle of a long series which can be stressing at times then I took a break and read this to review for the Valentine Rainbow Event. And it was a nice break. It’s good to read a book purely about the characters and about love. This is an hour stress reliever.
Steve Manchester, after coming out and entering the dating world is pretty much still single. Every failed attempts in relationship leads back to the one he truly wants, Burgess Cameron. Handsome slash The Best Friend who said on the night they met that he hoped he and Steve get to be friends. And no moves to take that to another step had been made.
I really enjoyed this one. And as I said, a stress reliever. The story is told by Steve’s point of view in present and recalls the past to which did not bother me. I’m not a fan of flashbacks but using that in this book gives an ache on what will happen on the present and keeps the story interesting. Steve as a character and the narrator is engaging. And the writing is easy to grasp which is really good for a non-native English speaker like me.
I find the Valentine’s Day event in this book oddly sweet even though I have a hunch on what will happen. Still that did not diminish the effect. Ha! That’s the romantic side of me talking. Through the end I could have smacked both of them for their stupidity in the beginning. I mean come on! But it was sweet. Burgess really made an effort and like what he said, “Nothing to lose but so much to gain.”
Short and Sweet, and perfect to spend an hour with on Valentine’s Day.
