It is great to welcome you back to our blog 🙂
We are here to talk about your new release One Good Deed. Is there something you would like to tell us about it?
A.G: I began this story with two basic ideas. For Luka it was arriving in this country and ending up very much alone. For Peter is was a childhood accident that has followed and colcored much of hsi life, from his job, to hsi family, and even his self worth. Then I mixed them together. What I realized was that Peter’s kindness in helping Luka paid dividents he neevr imagined.
How did you come to write this particular story?
A.G: I honestly wish I could tell you. I really have no idea. There wasn’t a particualr moment of inspiration or where everything came together. I simply began playing with ideas and the story took shape.
You always surprises readers/fans with your range in the type of stories you tell. How do you start a story?
A.G: I generally start with developing the characters and then the setting and conflict. But there are no rules. Sometimes the setting came first. In this case it was definitely
Does an idea present itself to you?
A.G: Sometimes. Other times, things flow to me organically where ratehr than a grand inspiration, its a series of smaller ideas.
Is there a particular story or series of stories that is most special to you?
A.G: I would have to say the Farm series, but they’re all special. If they weren’t I wouldn’t write them. Each story touches my heart in some way, otherwise I couldn’t write them.
Talking about series, what do you think it is with you and your writing that keeps readers asking you for more after finishing a “first “book, wanting you to turn it into a series?
A.G: I never start out writing a series. Mostly I end up turning a book into a series because I develop a secondary character that I want to know more about.
With your extended collection of books, which one character do you relate to most?
A.G: Geoff form Love Means… No Shame. I’ve written him at almost all stages of his life, so he’s the one I know best. (I tihnk he’s also the one I think I’d aspire to be most like)
Are there parts of your books, or even a book, that are based on your own life?
A.G: Not generally. I have used experiences in my life in my books, but none of them are autobiographical. Dutch Treat is based on my experiences in The Netherlands. The free story Copping a Sweetest Day Feel is probably as close as I’ve ever come.
Is there a certain way you prepare yourself when you start writing: certain things you do, places you sit, music you listen to?
A.G: Not generally. I have written on planes, in cars, on trains and ships. For me its all about being in the frame of mind and after all these years, it gets quite easy for me to do.
You have an unbelievable track record when it comes to releasing books. How do you manage that, especially since for a long time you also had a full-time job?
A.G: I am now writing full time. But when I was working, I employed alot of time management techniques to use the time I had as wisely as possible.
Coming back to the reason why you visited today
You have mentioned on FB that One Good Deed is kind of special for you. Can you tell us why?
A.G: I think that Luka and Peter really got into my head. I fell for them while I was writing their story. Peter has paid a heavy price for something that happened when he was a child and that touched me deeply. For Luka, I know what its like to be alone. There have been times in my life when I was very much alone, even in a room full of people.
I had the opportunity to read this story (thank you for that 🙂 ) and I have to say the level of intensity about dealing with feelings like guilt really got to me. How did you come to write something so personal and potentially diffucult to address on that distinct level?
A.G: Guilt is a powerful emotion and generally its unproductive. There is nothing so bad that a little guilt can’t make it worse. Its incidious, like fear, and can take over. We all have things in out lives that we feel guilty about. I simply channelled mine into this story.
And of course the standard question I cannot resist asking: What’s next 🙂 ?
A.G: The next story in the Senses Series, Love Comes Home, releases March 7. I am currently completing work on ther next Range Story and after that will be starting work on the next story in the Inside Out series. Stay tuned and check out the Coming Soon page at my web site. www.andrewgreybooks.com.
Thank You again Andrew for visiting our blog .

Blurb:
Luka Krachec immigrates to the United States to find his cousin dead and his cousin’s wife hospitalized after a terrible accident. He meets Peter Montgomery at the funeral. The American seems nice and captures Luka’s attention when he offers to help him with his English.
Peter has spent most of his life believing he shot his father at age six, and his family uses his regret and overwhelming guilt to keep him under their proverbial thumbs. Peter does his best to make up for what he did by helping others, and agreeing to help Luka with his English yields something amazing when they hit it off.
When Peter opens up to Luka about what happened when he was a child, Luka senses some holes in the story and suspects Peter needs some help, so he approaches the head of the psychology department at the college where he works. Neither expects to open a long-barricaded door to secrets, denial, and family manipulation
