When Aaron refused to discuss getting married, he didn’t expect Chris to take it so poorly. They’ve
been together twelve years. Aaron thought they’d at least talk about his very valid reasons. Gay marriage
isn’t even legal in their state, and what do they need a piece of paper for, anyway? When Chris leaves after
the fight, Aaron tracks Chris down just in time to see him about to lock lips with a stranger in a club, which
drives home the situation’s urgency. Aaron must make things right with Chris. He’s willing to do anything,
but their friends’ advice only goes so far, and when he learns what Chris has been hiding, Aaron has to
decide if a life with Chris is even an option.
REVIEW:
You get thrown in the middle of an argument, when you start reading this book – a heart
wrenching, realistic argument, which immediately sucks you in and has you on the edge of your seat
throughout the rest of this brilliantly written story. Ashavan has done it again. He has this amazing ability to
draw you into his writing, so it becomes an almost filmic experience to read – and it makes it so hard to put
down his stories!
In the case of Aaron and Chris, you are (purposefully) equally as confused as the main characters – what
happened? Why are they even arguing? Will Chris come back? Through a series of flashbacks – a technique
that I am not usually a fan of, I might add – their somewhat chaotic past is enlightened in exactly the right
measure to keep the reader interested, without revealing too much at once. Beautiful handiwork from the
steady hand of the author.
Through the entire short story, you are kept in suspense and rooting for poor Aaron, who honestly has
misunderstood everything they argued about, and when he finally finds and talks to Chris, all the puzzle
pieces fall into place, giving them a start on a HEA. The ending is, I might add, at exactly the right spot!
A good, solid story, great technical work and very emotionally capturing. A well-deserved four stars for
Ashavan!

Hi Andrea – I’m so happy you liked both my review and the book! I can see around the web that there’s a lot of different opionions on this piece, but that won’t change my mind about it 🙂 Ashavan is extremely talented! Can’t wait to see more from his hand either!
